I reside in eastern Pennsylvania.
I have two 500 dishes. One is pointing at 110/119 that is mounted approx.85' up in a tree.(I live in a wooded lot,my trees & my neighbors are over a 100' tall)
The other dish is on my roof & pointing at 61.5. This is the dish I'm hoping I can work with.I want to replace it with 1000.4 to get 72.7/77 & do it myself.
I have two DP21 Switches that are mounted down next to my garage.
My receivers are two VIP 211'S.
What I'm reading on the forum, the 1000.4 comes with a switch.
Do I need the two DP 21 Switches to make it work?
Add a different switch?
I DON'T WANT TO MESS WITH THE 110/119 DISH DO TO WHERE ITS LOCATED & THE COST THE GET A TREE CLIMBER TO MAKE ANY CHANGES.

Thanks
Ken

The eastern arc dish uses dish pro plus technology and does not require legacy switches like the dp 21. The switch is built in to the lnb itself. IF you get a 1000.4 sat dish installed you won't need the dish 500 for 110/119 at all . Since all you have is two 211ks , you would be set for eastern arc.

The way that you're wanting to configure, you will need both dp21's, and a dpp44 switch, to run a 5 satellite set-up, 61.5_72.7_77_110_119.
  • Connect 3 cables from the 1K.4, and one cable from one of the lnb's in the tree to the dpp44
  • The dp21's will be connected between the dpp44 and the 211's, tying in the cable from whichever tree lnb that you didn't connect to the dpp44
With vip211's, you shouldn't need the 110/119 dish, unless some locals are parked there.
  • If only one of the satellites are needed (110/119), there is a port on the 1K.4 to hook up one extra dish pro lnb. Simply hook up whichever lnb you want to the 1K.4 and you're good to go...no switch needed.
Mike, the dp21's are dish pro

So all the channels that I'm getting on 110/119 I will be able to get off of 72.7/77.
The real problem for me since I went w/dish after Voom went was the 110/119 set up because of the trees in the way. If I can get all the channels I have been getting+the new hd off the roof dish would be great.

PS It turns out that the number of the Beast is "616", and "666" was an incorrect reading of the ancient scripture (look it up if you don't believe me).

So, if you want to be faux "bad", you need to change your ID.

PS One of my most favorite movie scenes was in "End of Days" where Satan is talking to someone, and a skateboarder is crossing the street with a "Satan Rules" black t-shirt, and Satan says "Nice shirt" and with a flick of a finger sends the skateboarder directly into the path of a speeding bus... (favorite in the sense of it so graphically illustrating the stupidity of thinking that it is "cool" to be in league with evil).

Thanks for the feedback! Now I hope I can see the 72.7/77 satellites without any trees in the way.My signal for 61.5 is around 55-60.

I don't think my 211 receivers are the k models. I had them for many years. They have the silver color cases. Will they still work w/the 1000.4 dish?

I realize that it is dish pro, now that I think about it. I used to have the dish sw21 on my old legacy style dish , when they first installed my dish in 97. But if all he wanted was two 211ks , he wouldn't need anything but the eastern arc dish.

I stand corrected, however that leaves the question unanswered!

What is diff. between 211 and 211k besides color and a K? Oh, wait. I think it is EHD capability.
I posted a link, But style, size and color are the only differences that I know of.
211k is much smaller then the 211 silver clunker
Front style is different with some pretty Blue HD lights
and its Black.

I have Dish 500 (NOT 500 PLUS) on the roof where I want to put the 1000.4. Do I need to change the mounting foot & mast or are they interchangeable w/the 500.
