New member here. My installer suggested I give this forum a try...
I know reading here, this isn't the first time to set up what I'm wanting to, but not sure how to get it done.

Just bout a new house out of the city, so cable was no longer an option for me. I have (2) 222 receivers to feed four tv's (2 HD, 2 others using an RF remote)
However, I want to be able to feed 2 HD tv's connected directly to the HD tv sets, and the other two regular connections feeding a Vista Media Center pc.

The setup I have is, LNB's come in connected to two diplexors at the entry point. At the tv locations, i have another diplexor, one side feeding into essentially the output of the 222, the other side feeding into a splitter, with Sat 1 and Sat 2 going to the inputs of the 222.

what I want to be able to do is to to keep the HD signals from the LNB going through the 222 to the HD tv. The other two standard signals would possibly feed through regular tuner boxes (I temporarily have an old Dish tuner for my testing) which would then feed into the tuner card on my pc. Reason for this setup is that the pc needs to be able to control the changing of the channels (through an IRRemote) instead of relying on a uhf signal to change channels (as required by the 222 setup)

Any ideas on how to set this up? Hopefully it all made sense...

...Bump
Essentially, i'm trying to configure a 4-tv setup to go to (2) 222's, and (1) DP301
One of the 222's will be hooked up as expected...both satelite's feeiding in, and a remote tv hooked up via UHF/VHF.
Second 222 will only have a single satelite going in. Signal needs to be split in order to feed the 301

And another question...Anyone have a resource that would tell me all current (and older) Dish STB's, comparing and contrasting?

Thanks. the 222's are what we just got for our new install (tried explaining to sales rep what I wanted to accomplish but that was in vain apparently)
Can you tell me what the features of a 211 are?

our desired setup is this (if this helps a bit more)
we have a 1000.2 on the side of the house
We'll ultimately have 3 tv's and one computer (acting as our dvr)
TV 1 is HD so the 222 makes sense
TV 2 will be in a location where HD is not necessarily required, so feeding off of TV 1's 222 makes sense
TV 3 will again be HD, so I need an HD STB (however I don't need to back feed to a fourth tv necessarily)
TV 4 will actually be the pc and needs it's own STB in order for the PC's IRRemote to change the channels on the box

Our installation is only 3 weeks old at this point. Just moved from the city where cable was the better option. Now Dish is the only option, so I'm a complete noob.

You missed out on getting a dual/triple-input 722 DVR with HD and same/separate SD output. Once you have a DVR you cannot do without it. Of course this way you must keep up with the shows but how can you handle schedule conflicts?

Ok, if I'm understanding this correctly TV 1 and TV 2 are all set. TV 3 and TV 4 are the sets that need to be changed to your setup. For TV 3, you can either keep the 222 there and leave yourself the option to connect an additional SD tv at a later time. TV 4 (the pc) needs the 301 receiver connected to it. Leaving the first three TV's alone, all that is needed at this point is to run another cable from the LNB (which has three outputs) to the TV 4 (pc) location. Once a cable is run from the LNB to the pc location, connect the 301 receiver to the new sat line and to your computer. You'll first have to connect to a tv and run a check switch before you do anything else, then you can connect to your pc to control the receiver. You could also use the 211k instead of the 301, the 211k is a single tuner non DVR HD receiver similar to the 222 without the dual tuners. I'm sure either receiver will work with your setup.

Thanks, Kb2vgp
seems this is exactly what I'm attempting to do.
So a couple of follow up questions...
1) the 301 is actually a really old unit I borrowed from my brother for testing. what would be the best SD STB to replace it? the card in this one's out of date anyway.
2) since I"m a brand new customer, and money's definately an issue, would Dish Net most likely swap me out the 222 for a combination of a 211 and separate SD box without charge?

There are aonly two lines coming into the house. I'm going to have to go check, but I'm guessing there must be some splitter on the back of the dish taking me from the three outputs down to two?

1. if all you want is a SD STB then just get a 301/311. Cheapest place to get one is on ebay. Dish will wan't about 150 for one.
2. Dish wont swap anything for you now. When you sign up they are going to give you the equipment that will fill the needed amount of tv's with the least amount of equipment. You have signed off on the installations so you are stuck with it. If you want something different now you will probably have to pay for it.

There are two lines out of the dish because that is all that was needed when you were installed. To run a 3rd IRD you will need a 3rd line run from the dish to a ground block and then to your new IRD. There is no splitter on the dish, it just have an unused port on the LNB.

There are also no splitters on the back of your receivers, those are DP seperators and they are totaly different.

Thanks. Yeah, I checked the dish late last night and you're correct, two lines.
We're thinking that next month we prolly will get another 500 installed for the 61.5. The installer's been pretty good so I'll just have to see what he'd be willing to do.
Thanks to everyone for their help.
