Hey guys I plan on getting service with "D" sometime this week. Im planning on getting 1-Hr24 and 2-H24's. I do have some questions
1.If I choose a local installer can I get all the rebates through them(such as the referral rebate?)
2.On the H24's can I start a recording on them or can you only access the recordings you started on the HR24?
3. Now on to the DECA issue. Im a little confused on the proper set up and it looks like many of the installer are to. Now if I have read correctly I don't want the Ethernet cable going directly to the back of the HR because this will eliminate the MRV? Instead there should be a coaxial from my router to the back of the HR? Thanks guys

Local is the way to go. You will the same rebates but not sure on the referral. You will be assured to get what you want in hardware which is a big plus with local.

H24 does not have a hard drive but it reads what is on your HR24 recordings.

I will let someone else answer the Deca question.:)

The main DECA module plugs into your router, and has to connect directly to the SWiM splitter via coaxial. Whether you run coax to the router or Cat5 to the splitter is up to you (it needs power so whether or not there is an outlet by the splitter would be your deciding factor). But none of the receivers will connect directly to your router. Only the main DECA will. The H24/HR24 have DECA built in. Earlier units require a DECA adapter to split the ethernet from the coaxial at each receiver.

I got all rebates and promos including the referral discount using a local installer. Local installer should give you your account # BEFORE they activate you. Go onto D*'s web site, create your account with your new account#, log in, apply for your rebates. My installer had the referral info already in there when I logged in, but if yours doesn't do that, register the referral BEFORE THEY ACTIVATE you.

I did it this way on the advice of many here and my rebates and referral are showing up on my first bill.

Nuttz,
You will get your rebates regardless, but what Parker said, it to get them from day one, instead of waiting on them to start showing upon your account.
