Hello Guys,

I was told this is a great site to get all of tech help that I might need. I was directed to this site by FTAdirect. I bought a coolsat4000 Pro as a universal package and wanted to know the true south and the settings for my motorized menu. When I do a blind search for few of the satallites I pick up few channels from 121 but I do not pick up anything from bird 97. My Zip code is

98208

Can you please provide me with all of the settings that I would need for all of the satallites please. And am I able to pick up bird 55.5 because when I look at (satlex) website it tells me that I am able to pick that up. Please advise. Thanks in Advance.

Hopefully someone with the sat finder program can chime in. I dont have it loaded on my computer :)

Your longitude is at 122.1, so Galaxy 10 would be your true south :)
strongest transpionder there is
12114 frequency
V polarity
4444 symbol rate

55W is a C-Band satellite, so you would need a 6' or larger dish. Also the elevation is like 6 degrees so its almost impossible to get that :)

this one should almost peg the meter (or on the coolsat get it to 80)

Where can I get the polarity the symbol rate and the frequency so I can get some quality rate to be higher then 4-8%?

Should the reciver find the satallites on it's own when I plugged the true south? I was able to get about 68% on quality and was able to get few channels on bird 121 but nothing on bird 97 or any other ones at all.

Iceberg, you gave me the frequency, polarity and the symbol rate so should I pull up glaxy 10 on the coolsat and plug in the information that you gave me, because my understanding was that the coolsat and the motor should find that automatically?

It will but you need to aim it first. I gave a strong transponder so you can aim the motor and dish to get the best signal. Once that is done, the unit will move the dish and use blind scan to get the new frequencies.

But when you are starting aiming the dish and motor, you need a transponder to let you know you’re at the right spot : )

So in order to do this I need to pull up Galaxy 10 on the coolsat and then change the values that you gave me and then do a blind scan to get the new frequencies for the other birds in the sky?

Sorry, I don't understand, you want me to point to Galaxy 10 from my coolsat and move it east or west until I pickup that transponder?

To set up a motorized system, you need to aim at your true south (in this case, G10) and fine tune it before moving to other satellites. This is the easiest way to do it.

You have a real close true south in G10, so once you get that tuned in, the rest normally fall into place

I will try this tonight and let you know how it works tomorrow morning. Thanks for all of your help Iceberg and PSB.

Friend, your going to need a much better understanding on what is required to adequetly setup and aim a motorized system or your going to get frustrated and upset. As I am pretty new here myself I have not looked to see if their are good installation instructions for a motorized system here but one of the sponsers here "sadoun" has an excellent guide on his website.

http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Installation/HH-mount-installation.htm

I would go there, read it, print it out and read it again and again until you have a good understanding of what is required. I would also get a cheap sat meter to help you aim on your true S. satellite if you don't already have one. Sadoun sells them as well as the other sponsors. Without having an adequet understanding of what your trying to do it's unrealistic for you to think that you will be able to set it up yourself and have it work right without so much frustration that you give up.

Thanks Arion, I have installed the satellite and the motor in that fashion the first time. I was trying to save the settings for Galaxy 10 with the frequency that Iceberg provided and got about 75% quality but when I exit out of that menu and save the new settings it reverts back to the old settings that the receiver picked up.

I tried this numerous times and even reset the receiver to the factory default and loaded the latest firmware but it does not want to save the new settings.

In order to set the true south, I pulled up Galaxy 10 on my receiver and changed the frequency, LNB power, LNB Type, LNB Freq, DisEqC Motor, Sat degree as 123.o W, and the Antenna Pos at 123.0W / /047.0N and had the quality up to 75% and try to save it but it will not save for some reason. This is how you set the true south correct?

I've even went back to the factory default and started by uploading the latest firmware 1.31 and it still does not let me save it. Any suggestions?

Here's what I would do. Read through this thread which is about various problems a member had. Pay very carefull attention to the two "walkthroughs" included there (one by "Truckracer" and one by "Tron"). They may help you figure out what is wrong.

http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=75357

The only other thing I can add is that you have to go to the "Dish Settings" screen to do your initial setup on a satellite (LNB settings etc.). Then you can go to "Motorized Settings" and enter your latitude and longitude for USALS. Double check everything.
