We just subscribed to ABS-CBN and there are about 28 channels. They installed the dish, and we have an Atlanta DTH 8600IR receiver. There are about 28 channels on the system, and many of them are, I assume free. There are about 10 Arabic stations, and since we have NO desire to watch these, I was wondering how we could find out about additional channels available to watch.

This dish is definitely bigger than Directv, but not as big as those huge dishes you see some people with.

There are 5 networks, including ABSCBN, Globecast, ETTV, and ADTH. The fields available to edit are LNB Freq, D/L Freq, S/R, Polar, Skew, 22Khz, DiSEqC, and SAT No.

ABSCBN, following the above fields, is 10750, 12090, 20000, H, [blank], OFF. [blank], 01

I have figured out that it's Telstar 5 and Satmex, and have found most of the information above, but I am still trying to figure out what other information I need to change the setting to get some of the free to air channels

Thanks alot for your help and dealing with the newbie questions

Welcome to the forum : ) ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel, cool! All I could find out so far about the receiver was the below link to the manufacturer, so the dish points to both T5 and Satmex 5 ? Hopefully a few members familiar with your system will let you know the best way to proceed, I guess you have tried a transponder scan or a "blind scan" as some receivers have, I have also included links to whats on both satellites.

Thanks - but is Intelsat America 5 the same thing as Telstar 5? I actually tried putting in Audio/Video PID's into the receiver, but it wouldnt pick them up, and they are not scrambled either. I was thinking about doing a blind scan, but wouldnt that wipe out channels I already have in there?

thanks again

yes IA5 is the same as T5

no. If you do a scan, any new channels will show up. The existing ones aren't toucjed :)

ok great - so if a channel shows up - then I can just save it into an existing slot of a channel that I don't want?

doesnt it allow you add channels?

My receievrs put the newest channels at the bottom of the channel list and I can move them around :)
