My goal is to have a 322 and a series 2 TiVo hooked up to 1 TV, so that I can watch a program while another one records. Here is my dilemma.

I read the directions to a T, and was able to get the TiVo part working. I currently have it hooked into tuner 1 of the 322 and it works great. I thought the other part of it, would be as easy as just running a standard coax cable in the tuner 2 port into the cable hookup in the back of my TV. After much experimentation with the connections of the various A/V cables I was able to get the 2nd tuner working with the picture in black and white instead of color.

I tought this type of thing would be very simple to set up. However I have been at this for hours, and I am about ready to bang my head against the wall, because I feel like I have tried everything to try to get it to work. Is there anyone out there, that can help me and give instructions on how to get the 2nd tuner hooked up. And it could very well be that I may have a bad video output somewhere, but I was just wondering if someone could help me out with this. Thanks

What types of connections does your TV have on the back?

How is the 322 currently connected to the TV?

My TV has 2 different sets of the red white and yellow A/V connections as well as a standard connection for a regular coax cable.

After some more experimenting I currently have a setup(despite my best wishes) where my first 2 inputs, both have the same video feed (off of tuner 1). However I have one normal video input where the feed is in color, and 1 where it is in black and white Im not exactly sure what I am doing wrong, because I notice that the tuner 2 light on the front of the 322 is lit.

As far as how the 322 is currently connected to the TV. Right now, all I have is a coax cable running from the tuner 2 port on the 322 to the coax cable hookup in the back of my TV.

Just guesses but I would check that the 322 and the tv are set to the same mode, TV (ANT or Antenna) or have both set to cable or STD.

The other thing is that output is fairly high power and a short run might be overloading your tuner, did they include an attenuator in the box?

What is an attenuator? Im guessing that I dont have one, but I would have to know what it is first.

I never received one when the 322 was installed. Is that all I would need in order to get this to work properly? The reason I ask, is that I experimented some more with the connections and was able to get the 2nd tuner connection to the TV working, but the 1st input(the one that my TiVo was hooked up to) was giving me a black and white picture instead of a color picture. So after that I switched things back to where the input that the TiVo was hooked upto was in color and the TV2 connection was in black and white. Is this where the attenuator will help, or could this just be a problem with something internally in my 322?

It really sounds like a problem in the 322 rather than anything that an attenuator would fix.

Do you have any s-video in the mix anywhere? Re-reading your post it sounds like you have two a/v inputs in your set so you should not need any coax.

Have you tried tuner 1 a/v from the 322 directly into the input on the tivo, then hook the tivo output to the first a/v input on your tv (av1, input 1,video 1) then hook the the tuner 2 a/v output on your 322 directly to the second a/v input in your tv?

I'd try hooking each output directly to the tv and seeing how it looks and I'd try another set.

I ask about s-video because it can do the black and white thing if you hook both s-video and the yellow composite video cable up to a shared input.

Thanks. I will give it a try this afternoon and let you know if I have any luck

OK I tried your suggestion. After implementing that, here is where things stand.

TV1, Video Input 1. I am getting video on this. However the video is now black and white on this one. Also the sound from TV 2 for some reason is bleeding over to TV1. The TiVo part of things are working perfectly on this as well.

TV2, Video Input 2. This is perfect. I am getting perfect video on this one, and the sound is correct on here.

So from here, I need to figure out how to get TV 1(tuner1) a color picture instead of black and white. Also I need to figure out how to get the proper audio on there, instead of the audio from tuner 2. Any ideas from here? Thanks again for all of your help

I guess since I am getting the black and white thing, I must have an S-video connection mixed in somewhere.

I dont know if this necessarily means anything, but the S Video connection on my TiVo is not being used at the moment, so maybe that is not the answer

Well, I was finally able to get both tuners working, but I had to make a sacrafice. What I did was instead of having the AV cables from output 1 in the TiVo going into output 1 in the back of my TV, I plugged them into the AV connection on the front of the TV. From there, I took the AV connection from my XBOX that was going into the AV ports in the front of my TV, and moved it so that it is hooked into AV port 1 in the back of the TV.

So know the only black and white screen I get is whenever I try to play a game or watch a DVD on my XBOX. So the ultimate conclusion I came across, is that the cause for all of my problems this whole time, was a bad AV port on the back of my TV.

No signal on 942 but good signal on 311?!
