I finally got my system up & going!!! My problem now is i don't know how to wire it into the house. If someone has a link so that i can see how to wire my fta i would appreciate it. I have the invacom quad qph-031 on a motorized dish & i want to run it to two recievers.

ird1 -> motor -> switch -> lnb
ird2 -> switch -> lnb

ird1 controls the motor, ird2 watch's whatever is avalible on the sat the motor is pointed to

Explain in detail what wiring issues you have. What else do you have rolling into the house, cable? Satellite? OTA (over the air).

Let us know. You may need 2 diplexers. That's what it sounds like.

Without hijacking this post, how does ird2 know which satellite it is pointed at? My son has been wanting me to add a 3rd ird for him. To do this I was planning on upgrading the LNBF to a dual. I currently have ird2 slaved to ird1 so to use 2 I just turn off 1. If I add the third ird, how would things work?

Thanks

I just have cable ran into the house. I'm doing this all by myself, & I've looked for a diagram to look at but i haven't found one.

Glen, I don't know how what you're describing will work, as I don't do it like that? But the diagram that updatelee posted is the best way to connect a QPH031 dual linear/circular lnbf to 2 receivers (in my opinion). Since it is a dual lnbf, receiver one (main) will come from lnbf linear to diseqc port 1 and lnbf circular to diseqc port 2 on switch one, out of switch one to motor, out of motor to receiver one (main). Receiver two (secondary) will come from lnbf linear to diseqc port one and lnbf circular to diseqc port 2 on switch two, out of switch two to receiver two (secondary). It will be controlled by receiver one and receiver two will have to watch the satellite that receiver one is on. Receiver two will not controll the motor.

OK, you can use a diplexer to run the existing CATV and your FTA setup into the house.

Find the entrance of your cable going into the house, you will then need 2 diplexers to separate and/or combine the CATV and satellite signals at either end.

1st, the outside end, diplexer #1 accepts the satellite input and then the CATV input and the combined output of the diplexer goes into the house.

2nd, once in the house, you will need to use a 2nd diplexer to separate the 2 signals to whichever TV/computer you will need them. Sat. output goes to your LNB in of the receiver, and the TV output goes to your cable tuner/box and or RF pass through port of your satellite box.

blackblazers, you will need two diseqc switches, one for each receiver. And hook it up like the diagram updatelee showed you in post #2. Good Luck!

Thanks techno935!!! It's good to be able to post something & finally get answers. I really like this forum as a whole!! I can get replys instead of seeing people look at me ?'s & not posting anything.:eureka :up

1 more ? can i run 3 recievers? & everyone in the house will have to watch the same satellite, but the can watch what ever channel the want right.?

sure you can. There is a couple ways to do it.

The easiest way is to get a 4x4 multiswitch like the ones DirecTv use. Run all 4 lines from the Ivacom into it and it allows you to hook 4 recievers to the switch.
Below is a picture on one

The harder way is to get 2 2x4 multiswitches (one for linear, one for circular). You would need 3 diseqc switches to combine the 2 2x4 multiswitches. Or if you dont need the circular on them, just use one 2x4 (or 3x4) multiswitch

Iceberg.... i was wondering when you was going to show up! I've done ALOT of reading & everytime someone post on here you show up. Now i feel like part of the team! Now if you or anyone could find me a pic or a diagram so that i can SEE & make sure i do it right that would really help.

You will get those kind of non-responses on those "other" boards that concern themselves with other sorts of activity. Illegal activity that is.

The good news is that we are all doing the same hobby and helping each other at the same time. I try to give, as well as take in terms of feeds, diagrams, and other stuff that is important. That's what keeps this board a good board.

unfortunatly there is no way for the slave receivers to know what satellite the master is on. in my house I have two of my slaves in the same room as my master, this makes it easy to look at the master and see what satellite im on. the third slave is in the living room, so I have to walk over to the computer room and see what satellite the master is on.

not the nicest solution, but it works.

so I would put the master in the room your going to be watching the most tv from.

Hope this helps. One receiver will get the motor. Plug one of the output from the 4x4 multiswitch to the motor and then to the receiver.

The other 2 will go just to the receivers

:bow Thanks Iceberg for the diagram. I'm one of those guys that has to see something in order to learn. & Updatelee thanks for your clearing up a question that i wondered about I didn't know what a slave reciever was. I'm real wet behind the ears!!! I got to order me a 4x4 switch & i'll let you guys know how things turn out. Thanks guys!!:bow

Ebay has a bunch of them pretty inexpensive. As long as its a 4x4 (or 4x8) it will work fine. Most of the 4x8 are powered so I try to stay away from them. The 4x4 are powered by the reciever so no external power is needed
