need help understanding tilt...

Hi... Can someone help me better understand tilt??? Is it the same as "skew" in satellite terminology??? Why do I see so much more info about azimuth and elevation and so much less about tilt??? Does tilt only come into play with oval dishes??

Any help would be much appreciated...

tilt only applies to the oval dishes. I believe skew is the same as tilt.

Yes, tilt is really SKEW. It is seen on dishes that move to track the arc, such as small Ku FTA and C/Ku BUD systems and on the elliptical dishes such as the DirecTV PhaseIII.

Well, almost the same as skew, charper. The D* dish doesn't move to track satellites, but tilts/skews to align the three LNBs to the track of the satellites in orbit.

Thats what i said/meant "dishes that move to track the arc, such as small Ku FTA and C/Ku BUD systems AND the DirecTV PhaseIII (which means although it doesn't move the skew serves the same functionality) the PhaseIII was not included in with the tracking types.
