I am moving into an apartment and i just signed the lease today but i am not allowed to get dish because of the location how do i cancel my contract b/c i would stay but i wont be able to the way my room faces.

If you cancel, you will incur penalties, I would do the Dish mover and when they can't provide service, the monkey would be on their back. If you are on autopay, cancel your credit card as lost stolen and they can't charge your account or change to autopay and then cancel the card.

Or bite the bullet and pay the fee's and that way you will be able to get service again in the future.

You signed the agreement with them ... you agreed to have the service for a full "x" amount of months- and they normally charge you $13.33 per month for the amount of time that you have got left on the contract.

Might be worth trying the "mover" option suggested above though ... but i can't see how it would get you out of paying on the default amount.

edit - looks like you have only had ti for four months - so they would hit you for ...
14 months * 13.33 - $186 and some change ...

7) if you elected the eighteen month agreement option below, a prorated cancellation fee of $240 will apply for early downgrade, termination, or disconnection of service as described below, except in the event that you are Qualifying Eighteen Month Agreement Subscriber and such early downgrade, termination, or disconnection occurs within 30 days from the date of initial activation as described below. IF YOU CHANGE YOUR RESIDENCE, YOU ARE STILL BOUND TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CHANGE PRICES, PACKAGES, AND PROGRAMMING AT ANY TIME, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, DURING ANY TERM AGREEMENT PERIOD TO WHICH YOU HAVE AGREED.

Cancelling your credit card won't solve the problem anyways. They'll just put the charges on your Dish Network account and then after a while send you to a collection agency.Try to do a movers anyways and see if a compromise can be reached with your landlord. There are certain things that they are not permitted to restricted per FCC OTARD.

My Son tried the Dish Mover Deal............ couldn't get a Signal at New House. Still had to pay the Early Termination Fee.

This is why I hate commitments. I'd rather pay the up-front cost of installation rather than $13/mth if I have to cancel. I don't understand why so many do it???

And there are some people that you just shouldn't listen to! Don't cancel your credit card. Good thing you aren't my financial adviser!!!

Well, I got into it with Dish last year, being a 7 year customer, they promised some equipment and then didn't deliver, so I cancelled. I was on autopay using my checkplus/Debit card. They were suppose to send out 2 boxes for my leased 811's, including shipping tags, and they didn't send the return tags. So I called and requested return tags. It took 3 calls to finally get the tags, the return date was going to be close so I knew they would try to charge me for the 811's so I cancelled my debit card and had it replaced. Sure enough, they tried it, but since the card was not valid, they didn't get away with it. So, they didn't get to improperly charge me $500 or so. I didn't need a financial adviser to not allow a company to rip me off.

If you move and they can't provide service, to me that's not your fault. Same thing when I had Sprint PCS cell phone way back, moved to different area and they didn't have coverage so they let me out of their contract. If Dish can't provide service, that's not your problem. If they can, you should fill out your contract terms or pay the termination fee.

Please don't do this! This is a great way to ruin your credit rating, as Dish isn't going to simply give up, complaining that you cancelled your card. They will report things like this to credit agencies, and often send you to a collections agency as well.

Far better is to simply call Dish and work your way up the tree until you find someone willing to credit your account. You will be in a far better situation financially in the long term.

A decent credit rating is an awful thing to waste

Jolard's so RIGHT! Cancelling your card is the WORST IDEA EVER. Its bad enough to have that kind of activity, but if you let your DISH Network account go into collections, you just shot your chance of getting a car or a house to hell. They'll see deliquent payments, outstanding payments, and payments transferred to a collection agency on your record. seriously bad idea.

anyone else just lose locals?
