NCAA Football 2011-2012

Here is a picture from halftime at the Rice/Texas football game. Rice's band is known as the MOB - Marching Owl Band. They are more about comedy than the music. They are a lot like Stanford.

Their announcer begins the show "And now, as not seen on the Longhorn Network, the MARCHING OWLS BAND." They immediately made a reference to dealing with the devil and went into this formation.

It's times like this that I miss our old SWC rivalries.

They may not be "cinderella", but I certainly do not consider them a national power either.
They can compete for the few (one or two) big games that they have a year. They have proven that.
I have serious doubts that they could do it week in and week out with an SEC or Big 10 conference schedule. Boise's big game weekend is generally just called Game Day Saturday in those conferences. Held up to that standard, I feel that they fall short.

I agree with your assessment 100% ...

My point was, they are better than a No Body school that may come in and knock someone off.

No way! Are you hungover? :p

Nope.
Feeling just fine.
Tlledo has a pretty good team and OSU is just starting to find themselves with all the BS thats happened this year.

Toledo has a Reputation of knocking off Big Ten teams.

Michigan (13-10), Penn State (24-6), Purdue, Minnesota ..... I don't think they won all these games but were in it to the end with all of them.
I KNOW they beat Michigan and Penn State.

And I call BS.

Georgia has been talking about the Boise St. game since last year. They were preparing for it and not looking ahead. Everyone in the Bulldawg nation was looking forward to Boise St., in order to put them in their place. Guess what, it didn't happen.
Also, Boise St., UGA, and VT all had the same amount of time to prepare (the entire off season). Face it, your Hokies and my Dawgs were shown their place by the Broncos, and the Broncos showed they can compete.

btw, it wasn't Boise St. that lost to a "nobody" team last year (Nevada was ranked at the time), that was VT losing to a Div-1AA team.

No if anything is BS its nearly all of that including that last jab.... Sure Vt lost to JMU, but no matter how people want to ignore the reasons they are there. Poor scheduling on the coaches part for starters, 2 days to prepare, etc etc.. JMU like Boise St had ALL YEAR to prepare for that game they played against VT just as Boise did for Georgia and Georgia has other things on their minds which the QB said even at a press meeting after the game they were focused on SEC play... your saying BS and even the players are saying thats what they were focused on. Nobody wants to lose to Boise St by no means or even a 1AA team.. but it happens. I'm not saying Boise st isn't a good team they are, but they CAN NOT do it week to week against these other big teams. Their schedule left is horrible with NOBODY really left but I'm sure they will trip up at some point. Any team can be ranked on any givin saturday too by the way...so even though Nevada was it didn't mean much for their season.

and VT's season was so much better in the crap that we called the ACC football last year?

Sorry, but excuses are just that, excuses.
A loss is a loss, deal with it. Virginia Tech and Georgia lost for 1 reason, and the reason was that Boise St. was a better team.

Derwin, while I agree with most of this (to a point), I still say that Georgia should never have been built up as a top 25 team this year. Boise got a quality win, but this did not justify them as being on the national powers level any more than any previous win IMHO. People just see it as, "hey, they beat a top 25 SEC team", when in truth, they beat a middle of the road at best SEC team (for now, they will be back at some point) that most fans know should never have been in the top 25 at this point.

Im not sure what the problem is in Athens, but Richt better get on it, and fast, or he is gone.

I'm not sure I agree with you, but you could be right. I will say this though, Kellen Moore could play for any team, he is a great college quarterback.

As to the point i was making earlier, if ESPN and NBC still want to tell us the Notre Dame is still a national power, than so is Boise State. They have a better roster and have for years.

They haven't been for a while. But they do have one of the true national followings, and in doing so make money for NBC.
Few teams (outside the academies) have the kind of national following the irish have.

Now I'm going to go shower after giving credit to notre dame...

Boise had all year to prepare? So did GA and so did VTech.. Whats the point? Do I think Boise is a great team? I do believe they are on the sae level as a team like GA is in the SEC though. A 2-3 loss SEC conference team. Of course GA this year is playing a weak SEC run, so they may very well only lose 2 conference games this year. VTECH is also in that same level.

sure its a loss..and I do deal with it. However it was last year and for some reason people keep bringing it up so I'll keep defending it.

I do think Boise is a good team..but they can't do it week in and week out... GA and VT both had all year to prepare for not only this game but other large games against harder conference foes vs Boise St whom don't play much more than FCS teams all year...that's my point. When you have to prepare for all these games for a whole season in conditioning for just that you tend to focus more on the long term vs in Boise's case they don't have to. Move their ass to a larger conference with or without Kellen Moore and they wouldn't make it past 2week two without players having injuries and just pure being worn out - its something called Recruiting and these other teams do it better.

Now don't get me wrong I'm not trying to sit here and defend VT a team I pull for hands down...but I see the whole big picture here and I see exactly what happened to GA also from last night. Their QB said it right after the game they were focused on SEC play coming up even before the Boise St game..they felt Boise would be a push over just as VT did...they both thought wrong and got beat. At least in VT's case it was last year and its a new season...bigger hopes but with GA they will just have to do what VT did last year and just put it behind them and win... Boise St just became GA's biggest fan!

Then they should lose if they are looking ahead instead of the team they are going to play.

Ok, as a gator fan, would Boise, in your opinion, with their team, have accomplished the same as the Gators, playing the Gator schedule for the past say, 5 years.

I say, no way, no how.

To be fair, I think you were the first to bring up VT and their loss in the discussion after Boise beat Georgia.

A fan got hit by lightning at the WVU-Marshall game....game called WVU wins.

Great

I wonder if they will ever make this game official, 1 team is not agreeing with the other to make it official from what I heard last, and they are trailing what 34-13.

edit: I see they have made it official now.

I think Boise State is a more physical team than the Oregon Ducks. Heck,I didn't even that Boise State played on blue turf until 2-3 years ago. More people know who Boise State are & they may help them to recruit the bigger physical players needed to play against the bigger conferences. Boise State reminds me of the Colorado Buffaloes during the early nineties when they started winning. I wonder,is Boise State not allowed to wear all blue at home period,or just when they play their conference rivals(can't wear all blue uniforms)?

It will be interesting to see how Boise St. does next year once Moore is gone.
