NCAA Football 2009-10 Season

Your expecting to go from outside the top 20 (25) to start the season to Top 3 in 4 weeks ?
Only the Golden Domers could do that.
Didn't that happen to Alabama last year? Wouldn't surprise me at all to see Miami jump up there, but I doubt it will be in the top 5 just yet.

IF Miami runs the table the 1st 4 games, they should be top 3.....easily! NOBODY has played a tougher schedule....EVEN if the teams end up being so-so. There are NO cream puffs in that starting 4 games. NO ONE in the country can complain about THAT schedule. BUT, you gotta still throw caution to the wind...it IS STILL only 2 games.
Who is going to fall out of the top three? Florida, Texas or USC? If they all keep winning, they aren't falling. Miami needs to beat someone in the top 10 to get into the top 5. VT and OU could both be out of the top 20 by the time they play Miami.

Good point. Some of those teams that were deemed "TopTen" before the season by the football geniuses of the sports media, suddenly aren't (another reason to do away with preseason polls). What looked like strong schedules now don't.

I think the AP and coaches poll should operate like the BCS poll, in that they wait a few weeks before coming out. This gives the teams time to fall into their proper places based on their perfomance for the current season, allowing for those surprise teams and teams that will lose their competitive edge early on due to injuries to key players.

One thing the BCS does right.

Only difference is, the kid from Miami has NO PRESSURE on him while Pryor has a TON of pressure on him.

They have made him out to be the next great thing and I don't see it, at least yet.

Then again, others that have been reveered were not all that great at the start.
V Young was NOTHING till his late in his Jr year and into his Sr year.

It also took Troy Smith a few years to get going at OSU and then he was very good.

Am I disappointed with Pryor, I was expecting him to do better yes, but I'm not throwing him out the door

LMAO!! Really??!! The U had 3 QBs transfer in the last 1 year andyou think there is no preassure?

Prior's growth has been slowed down by that 1950 offense.

i'm not going to get too excited here yet but so far so good. i won't go as far to think they might be in the top 5 anytime soon. where do guys think they might rank after last night's win?

IF...and that is still a BIG IF...they sweep the 1st 4 games...NO OTHER TEAM in the country deserves to be in the top team MORE than The U. NO OTHER TEAM has played a tougher schedule and I over heard that NO TEAM has played 4 straight top 20 team to start the season in more than 30 years.

Sorry...but IF they sweep the top 4 games....they will be noticed and will be in the top 3 because NONE of those teams would have played AND beaten the type of teams Miami has. They will be noticed.

Believe me, no one here has screamed about useless polls more than I have. But look at the quality of the opponent alone. These were all bowl teams and major forces in major conferences. They are not playing teams like North Carolina A & T, St. Margaret's School of the Blind like all those other schools are play. EVERY SINGLE team in the top 20 more than likely had AT LEAST 2 cream puffs to start the season.....The U did not.

I agree. You above all should know how the pollsters might react. :)

Miami is playing with an edge right now, that's for sure. But we're still talking about the ACC. The next two weeks will tell a lot. ;)

Yes....they have VaTech in Blacksburg and Oklahoma(another game I will be attending) at home.

I'm not saying Miami's not a good team, and might be deserving of being in the top three. I'm just saying that as long as the top three keep winning, they aren't dropping in the polls. That's just they way it is.

i agree that for sure they will be noticed.still not sure about that top 3 spot though. but if you're correct i'll be sure to give you your props;)

Well, we got smacked around last night.

Miami is definitely showing promises of greatness this year.
Take care of business against Va Tech and Oklahoma, and they can easily go undefeated this year.

ROFLMAO! Oh please.....GT was over-rated. Early season polls are so FOS!

Undefeated? Because they stopped a high school offense, and beat a team that nearly lost to Jacksonville St? I've given Miami their due as a much improved team, but let's not get carried away here.

Limitations? Didn't you hear? He can run a 40 in 1.8 secs! He beat a cheetah in a footrace.
In college, there was a defensive back on our team who was super fast. He was a couple of years ahead of me so I asked another teammate why he never returned kicks. He said, "if there was one tree in the middle of the desert, he would run into it."
