NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

Even more reason to despise Tim Tebow........

He wears crocks and likes to pretend babies are a football when doing a Heisman pose in public.

Yet another reason to hate Auburn.

I already hated the fact that they were rated so ridiculously high at the start of the season and proved to be frauds.

BREAKING NEWS: Sources Confirm, Chris Petersen to Mississippi St

You can take this to the bank. Boise State’s Chris Petersen, will be the new head coach at Mississippi State University. The official announcement could come as soon as the completion of the SEC Title game. More later, when information becomes available.

Mark my words- it'll be a disaster.

He will live to regret this.

The Bulldogs freaking SUCK!

I happen to agree. In a conference with all star coaches at every school, they can't all be winners. Peterson should have taken a job in the Pac 10 instead. There it's USC and a whole lot of opportunity.

The obvious answer is that the Buckeyes will play Missouri, since they'd get the automatic Big 12 bid to the BCS.

Nope. If OU loses then OSU will not play in a BCS game. They will most likely play
Georgia in the Capital One bowl at that point.

Wrong. Two teams from the same conference can matchup iof they both finish #1 and #2 in the BCS rankings. It's unlikely to happen, as the human voters (who make up 2/3 of the BCS rankings) are unlikely to vote in such a way as to allow for it, but it can happen -- nothing in the rules prevents it.

tOSU and UM didn't end up facing off because they didn't end up #1/2 in the final BCS standings. If Michigan had ended up #2, they would have gone to have a rematch versus the Buckeyes.

I know ....
I was just making a point that the Big Ten got screwed again back then as well.

At this point, the BCS setup is almost certain to be this:

Championship: SEC champ versus Oklahoma (if they win) or Texas (if Oklahoma loses)
Rose: USC versus PSU
Fiesta: tOSU versus Texas (if Oklahoma wins) or Missouri (if they win)
Sugar: Alabama/Florida loser versus Utah
Orange: ACC champ versus Cincinnati

Not so fast my friend ....
I have heard several thought to who Ohio State could play anywhere from Texas, Utah, Boise State ... have yet to hear Missouri ...

I don't understand the point you're trying to make everytime you say this. If team USA wins in the Olympics, don't the rest of us have a right to be proud of them since we live in the USA? Why is that any different when you reduce it to a regional conference? The SEC is comprised of teams from the South, so people who live and support teams in that area are proud when one of their own win. Why does that bother you so much?Exactly! :up I would assume most fans of the Big11 feel the same way.

Gee, that must be your area thing, I just heard (read) last night here that someone in the Big 12 would NEVER root for another Big 12 team in a bowl game.

WHEN Ohio State won the championship the Big Ten did not stand up and say WE won, Northwestern did not win it , Illinois didn't win it , Penn State didn't win it ect.

Same goes for when the Bucks lost in the MNC games, why did it effect the whole Big Ten, many of them one thier games, even against the SEC.
Just because OSU lost, does not dimminish the rest of the conference that just one thier games.

It bugs me because if Florida wins, that does NOT mean that Alabama won the MNC , or Vanderbuilt or who ever, Florida wins, not all the other teams in the SEC.
Maybe it bugs me because there is such a biased attitude here that the SEC is above it all and could not possibly lose.

Can't speak for all B10 fans, but I'd root for a B10 team in the title game.......unless it was Michigan!!

Conf pride or not, I draw a line there :)

Are you telling me that there aren't some BAMA fans out there that aren't still smiling about Auburn in 03 :)

The other point to make is that just because the NC came from your conference, shouldn't mean your the top conf. Nor should losing in the NC game dimishes the accomplishments (or future ones) of its members.

Do you think the BE was the best in '01? What about the ACC in '99?

If you want to raise your conf rep across the board, then base it on all conf teams records in bowls and OOC games.

That is the reason the SEC is always considered the top (or top 2) conf every year. Its not because a team in their conf won the title, but the statement of work of all of the teams in the SEC.

You can be proud as a conference member to see a fellow one win the title, but you can't hang your hat on another team's accomplishment

EDIT: BTW....I'd be happy to see Michigan win in a bowl game....just not the title game :)
EDIT: "Can't" :)

Thanks Scott,
Well put !

TT Offers Leach a 5 Year Extension

The Leach Carousel Continues.....

Texas Tech made its first formal contract offer Friday to Leach's agents -- a five year deal worth a total of $12.1 million, Texas Tech athletic director Gerald Myers told the Dallas Morning News.

Myers said the last three years of the contract would pay Leach a total of $7 million. The contract is in Leach's agents' hands. They will likely review it this weekend and give Myers an answer early next week. Leach is signed through 2010.

According to ESPN at 9:35 pm, Peterson is NOT going to MSU ..... at least not yet.

Ball State got absolutely HOSED on a touchdown-that-should-have been.

How the refs can not call that a touchdown what beyond me.

If they lose this game, I hope the referees get FIRED!

They may have just screwed Ball State out of an undefeated season.

A 99-yard fumble recovery by Buffalo suddenly puts the Bulls up 21-14.

That never should have happened.

Ball State SHOULD have had a touchdown, but the refs somehow thought he was out-of-bounds.

They got HOSED!

I may have been born in Buffalo, but I feel that a Bulls win would be TAINTED because of what I think may be one of the biggest blown calls I've ever seen.
