NBA 2008-09 Season

He's still young, plenty of time left in his career. Sounds a little like another Duke alumni, who signed a big contract - Grant Hill.

Before everybody jumps on that comment, let me say now that this is no reflection on Duke. How could it be? Just point out a similarity.

Not a big night of good NBA games for a Friday...

7:00 Orlando - Indiana

Magic are going to miss Jameer Nelson. Now they have to depend more on JJ Redick.

7:30 Boston - New York

Whose turn is it to torch the Knicks tonight? Now they get an ornery Celtic team. Nice. The Knicks really need a breather, like a game against the Pistons or Heat...

Sandra

I heard a rather incredible stat this evening.

Over the course of the last 35 NBA seasons, 4 of the top 15 teams in point differential (a stat that many believe is a tell tale sign of being an elite team) are teams from this season!

2008-09 point differential rankings

1. Cavaliers +10.3
2. Celtics + 9.6
3. Lakers + 8.6
4. Magic +8.6

To put this in perspective, the fifth and sixth place teams from this season are Denver and Portland, tied at +3.9

Think about that for a minute, 27% of the top 15 teams with the best point differential in the last 35 years, are from THIS season!!

Wow!!!

If I'm not mistaken, last year's Celtics are somewhere in that top 15 also.

The Wizards are getting their brains beaten.

If myself, Bill, HD MM, Sandra, and Celtics_HD came together as a starting five, we'd KILL the Wiz.

I told HD that the so-called Cavs/Wizards "rivalry" is as competitive as the Roadrunner and the Coyote.

Don't know if this has been pointed out already, but I heard on ESPN this morning that when the Knicks played the Lakers, Cavs, and Celtics, it was the first time in NBA history that a team faced three successive opponents that were each 25 or more games above .500. Now, the Knicks take their act to the West Coast.

The Wiz aren't this bad Sabres, trust me. They're playing with 6 players. Almost everyone significant on their roster is out with injuries.

Yeah, that was a brutal 3-game stretch for the Knickerbockers.

That IS an impressive stat Celts!

Just like I've been saying for a while now, we're in the middle of another great period in NBA basketball. Talent around the league is at an all time high, which creates for some spectacular games. As a fan, I'm just soaking it all in.

This is F*n ridiculous! Wallace didn't even get the rebound. The ball may have breezed off his fingers, but LeBron came down with the ball and passed to an opponent to maintain possession!

What a crock! Go to hell NBA! You clearly have an agenda. You pissed on Cleveland twice now in the last week! We will not forget this!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I thought that was kinda lame too, taking it away after the game was over.

DUDE....WHO cares??!! Did they WIN??!! Did they totally dominated the Knicks??!!
Why is this a big deal??!! Scores tables does not make mistakes?? I am willing to bet one months pay this is only one less hair of his short afro...

...this will not cause a sudden surge in revenge by the Cavs...

MAN oh MAN....Rumors are FLYING here that a certain someone COULD be a Heat!

The Arizona Republic, in a story posted Friday on its Web site, quoted Stoudemire as saying: "I know for sure, wherever I go, we're going to definitely be playoff contenders. I bring a lot to the table."

Sources told ESPN.com that the Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, Detroit Pistons and Portland Trail Blazers are among the many teams with whom Phoenix has exchanged trade concepts, with the Bulls and Heat believed to be pursuing Stoudemire hardest at this early stage.

Almost every team in the league has some degree of interest in Stoudemire, but sources close to the process maintain that the Suns will part with the 26-year-old only in a deal that delivers at least one decent-sized expiring contract along with younger talent and/or draft considerations.

Rumors out of Miami is Marion BACK to Phoenix and Michael Beasly and possibly Dorell Wright for Amare Stoudemire and a #1....:eek::eek:

I don't know if they I would give up Beasley THAT fast though....I mean he is coming into the league about the same age as Amare with BETTER skills AND almost the same height when Stoudemare started....
