NBA 2008-09 Season

According to Stephon Marbury, the Celtics have asked him to play for them.

But first the Knicks and Marbury would have to come to a buyout agreement.

This has been the rumor for a while now. I personally think Marbury signing with the Celts would be disastrous though. Boston finally has their mojo back, why would they now want to jeopardize this???

WHY do you assume that KG, Paul Pierce AND Ray Allen would let him basically come in do whatever he wants?

I agree that I don't like this potential move, but Marbury had better fall in line or KG, Kendrick and Big Baby will kick his ass.

If the Celtics make ANY move, I want a tall body.

I REALLY wanted Mutumbo, but he went back to Houston. I'm still holding out hope that they can talk P.J. Brown out of retirement again.

I was just scanning the NBA schedule for the next few days.

All I can say is POOR Sacramento.

They have back-to-back games Tuesday and Wednesday nights............in Cleveland and Boston!:eek::eek:

And to think, in 2002, we were a few baskets away from a Kings/Celtics NBA Finals.

I know, but that Nets team that beat us was a MUCH superior team.

And that Celtics team would have been eaten alive by the Lakers if they advanced past the Nets.

I still can't believe THAT Celtics team took out the Pistons in 5 games in the EC Semis.

What are we talking about? :) :)

on whether Marbury as enough juice to think he can corrupt a lockerroom...and I say no. And I say the team leaders on the Celtics would not allow that....

Again, "team harmony" and things of that nature is only brought up when the team loses or when they were a winning team and no longer in the upper tier....in other words...."WHO do we blame for our demise...."

When the team is still winning, all that crap is swept under the table....not mentioned or completely ignored or forgotten. There have been plenty of examples of this in every single professional sport.

The Pistons are looking brutally inconsisent this year- a 24-19 record (they lost only 23 times all of last year) and have realistically zero chance of catching the Cavs for the division title.

Following the Iverson trade, they have not looked very strong at times- I thought the team would click the way the Lakers did after they got Gasol last year.

If the season ended today, they'd have to be the road-team and open in Atlanta (Also, they're only a half-game ahead of the Heat, and I don't think they'd beat Orlando if they fall to sixth).

I ask this:

1. Why isn't the team playing well after the A.I. trade like the Lakers did after getting Gasol?

2. Is their window of opportunity for a title closed or closing?

3. Are they a one-and-done team?

Also, I say this: given how this team has brutally underachieved- only one title when they could have won more- I have long insisted that had they NOT drafted Darko, they'd have won more.

If they added D-Wade or Melo back in 2003 to a team that would win the title, I think they could have seriously repeated or even three-peated.

The Pistons better watch out for Philly also (currently the #7 seed).

The Sixers- just like last year- are coming on like gang busters after a slow start.

But IMO, they're a more dangerous out in the playoffs this year with Elton Brand.

Seven games in the NBA tonight, and IMO, only two are worth watching:

Atanta at Miami- this could be a preview of a first round 4-5 matchup.

Philly at New Orleans- great point guard matchup

1. Why isn't the team playing well after the A.I. trade like the Lakers did after getting Gasol?

Because the Lakers didn't have to give away a Chauncey Billups. The Lakers were basically handed Gasol on a silver platter without having to give up anything substantial in return. The Pistons on the other hand took a gamble and traded Chauncy for A.I.

And BTW, I don't knock this trade as much as others. I never agreed with it, but I understand why it was made. You need to take chances in order to win Championships. The Pistons wouldn't have won the East even with Chauncey. Both the Celtics, Cavs and maybe the Magic were all better than the Pistons even before the trade. They needed to take a chance in improving exponentially. Unfortunately for them though, it hasn't seemed to work out.

I know. I guess I shouldn't be a comedian. :)

I was referencing AI's famous practice tirade.
