Pretty nasty bug going around, I've had it for two weeks and thought I was over it until friday when it hit with a vengance and knocked me totaly off my feet sending my fever to 104. If your someone who works indoors and outdoors like I do and around diferent people every day be sure to boost your imune defenses and becareful, seriously thought I was going to end up in the hospital had it gotten any worse.

Ive had a little cold for the past month. Not anything bad just enough to piss you off in the mornings. Headaces, sniffiling, coughing. but by around 1:00 or 2:00 it is gone and I am feeling better just to come back the next morning.

Allergies won't cause a fever; fever indicates the body fighting an infection of some sort.

As rude as some think it is, I try my best not to shake hands, share phones, keyboards, pens, etc, or hug people, and I always use Germ-X type products if I feel compromised.

I also drink at least one glass of OJ and take a complete multi-vitamin with a small breakfast every day. I have found getting a small breakfast has helped.

I also get at least 4 ours of sleep, but no more than 6 each night. I have done much reading that 7+ hours or more can actually do more harm than good; especially causing a slower metabolism; not good for overall health.

I have not been ill since 1999 since I started this type of regimen. REALLY!

I have been having the same trouble Tate. It would bother me more in the mornings and night before I go to bed sometimes.

What were the symptoms of what you had Van?

I just got off of the Internet Storm Center pages about the Windows MetaFile zero-day exploit and wanted to warn people. I saw this thread here and thought it was about this new nasty computer bug, not a wetware bug. The F-Secure blog has this entry about a new SPAM that is making the rounds that contains an infected image.

According to the experts, this WMF vulnerability is present in Windows 9x/ME/2K/XP/2K3 (no mention of NT) and Microsoft is not expected to have a fix for several days. This is considered to be the "fish or cut bait" time for those people still running 9x and ME as Microsoft will not release a fix for these versions. People are strongly urged to upgrade to XP. Macs and Linux don't have this vulnerability.

Also, it's reported that running Google Desktop can activate the exploit just by scanning the infected file(s).

It started out with a slight tickle at the back of my throat and progressed into a sore throat with clogged sinuses for 2 weeks and chest pain. Into this past week it seemed that it was going away and thursday was good as I felt my strength coming back finally. Friday hit and I woke up with a headache at the base of my skull and 400mg of motrin didnt put a dent into it, at 7pm that night I started to feel queazy and by midnight I was facing the porcelin throne or not facing it depending on what moment it was. For the rest of the night I got very little sleep and the whole of the next day I ran a fever of 102 - 104 until it broke late lastnight.

Like I said its a nasty one, lingers around for a long time and hits you hard it seems, never had anything like it before.

I thought this was a human illness thread? Anyway you couldn't give me XP over Win2k Pro. We will see what Windows Vistas holds.

Yeah, it is a human illness thread. I was checking to see if someone else might have posted, which is why I created a new thread.

My wife has been sick for the past four days, but nothing as bad as Van has. I hope everyone who is under the weather gets better soon!

I was sick thought I got better,
then new years happened and now I sick as hell again.

When you felt that tickle in your throat did it feel like a lump? Every so often I get that. I had some sinus issues within the past week but a special pill took care of that.

I haven't been sick in years, I just stopped worrying about it. You come in contact with germs all the time, your body can handle it. The people who go out of their way to stay healthy tend to get sick more often.

BTW, since all the topics seem to be closed, Maybe I can say something here. I still see my avatar. I don't see the avatar of mrs. riff. I don't like people who claim that every picture of a woman is pornography or that it's degrading to women. They aren't forced to pose sexily by gunpoint, they audition for a job that's offered. They stand there on their own accord, and get paid better than most of us to do it. It's hardly degrading. Why attractive women can elicit such joy, and disgust, with the same photo is amazing to me.

I chose this avatar because they were safe pictures. Anyone who's seen the rest of them can probably say there are worse ones. I'll bet somewhere there are pictures of mrs. riff with her arm around another woman and they're both smiling which could be twisted around as pornography by someone. I don't just use pictures of any skanky looking woman, I choose pictures of really attractive women. My avatar didn't get noticed because it's full of sex, it's noticed because the women are highly attractive. Same with my last avatar. No nudity, not even the lower half of her body, she's just gorgeous and is why people noticed it and commented on it.

Someone asked scott if he was playing favorites and I don't get that. I've been here for like 6 months. While I don't know what the last avatar was (the one removed), I think each avatar is a case-by-case basis and find it funny that if mine was so offensive, it wouldn't be sitting here as I type. I think the real problem is that a Pittsburgh Steelers fan was defending a Cleveland Browns fan. What's next, Howard Stern and Rosie O'Donnell getting married? Yankee and Red Sox fans marrying each other? Cats and Dogs living in unison? It's madness I say...

Now please excuse me, this 'pervert' has some green tea and multi-grain pretzels he'd like to finish, then i'm going to go bitch about Lifetime being taken away...

"I don't like people who claim that every picture of a woman is pornography or that it's degrading to women."

Just to set the record straight - I never claimed your avatar was pornographic. The photos are provocative and suggestive. In my opinion, they are not appropriate for this site.

I do appreciate your choice of women. They are quite attractive. If they were not, I would probably be complaining the photos are also disgusting :) I would like to mention that I do not agree with your comment about the photos only being noticed because the women are attractive. I would probably have noticed the photos more quickly if the women were unattractive.

Once again and just to ensure there is no misunderstanding - there is nothing wrong with a seductively dressed woman in the correct forum. This site's
has asked that all "avatars be family friendly". Obviously, your avatar has generated some discussion by both genders on if it is "family friendly".

In addition, I mentioned in my first post that I realize this site is viewed mostly by men who would most likely not share my opinion. Being a female, having 4 daughters, and teaching high school students, I have a different perspective on this topic than most men - especially young men with no female children. I felt the need to express my opinion and hoped that it might be considered. I understand your point of view and actually agree with some points. I do not agree with that this is the correct forum for these types of photos.

On the original topic of this thread:

"I haven't been sick in years, I just stopped worrying about it. You come in contact with germs all the time, your body can handle it. The people who go out of their way to stay healthy tend to get sick more often."

I agree with you completely on this point and stated the same thing yesterday as I watched my daughter sucking on the handle of the Walmart shopping cart :) As all the other teachers are constantly taking off time pick up sick children, I have been blessed with my health along with very healthy children. I attribute this to not getting the flu shot and not freaking about every germ that we may be exposed to. Being a teacher, I am constantly around sick kids. I always leave my home without a coat and sometimes even with wet hair during winter when I am truly running late! Ironically, it is my husband - who usually does get the flu shot, who works in an environment with only a few adults, who always wears a coat, and who never has wet hair (too short) - that gets the flu.

I didn't say you said it, but after re-reading I see why you thought it was directed at you. Someone else said it was pornographic and I disagree with whoever said that.

If I saw your daughter sucking on a walmart handle (ew...) i wouldn't worry about the kid, i'd worry about the next person to grab that cart and have it all wet, that's really gross...I should start a thread about that...=)>

I'm concerned about people who use that hand sanitizer stuff...Imagine how much damage that stuff is doing to your body. If it's strong enough to kill germs without heat, imagine what it's doing to your skin after it absorbs...No thanks...

Your new avatar is much less animated and much more "family friendly". Is she anyone you know personally?

Even though she is my daughter, I have to admit she does some pretty gross stuff. It is a losing battle to try and change her habits. Hopefully, she will stop before she starts dating:) As for now, I'm just glad she is healthy and happy!

We have the hand santizer stuff at work. It is extremely drying to my skin. I read somewhere that it is no better than soap. In fact, it is the amount of time you spend washing your hands and not the product you use that makes a difference. They do have hand santizer hand cream also. Anything to make a buck ....

They say that washing your hands often is one of the best things you can do to help prevent getting sick.

I agree. I am always washing my hands since I deal with kids constantly. I just think the sanitizer products are overkill (and very drying to your skin especially during the winter months).

Besides washing your hands, I think getting enough sleep is very important to ward off any bugs. I seem to always feel under-the-weather when I have missed a few good nights of sleep.

I'm like you I think the hand sanitizer is just another way to sell something that doesn't work.
