I'm gettng a 622 Friday and was told I can get locals in HD without an HD package.

After searching I think the Nashville HD locals are on 129 only?

I have a 500 (119,110)

What do I need to get HD locals off 129?

I have on old 300 dish still on my house. Can I just point that dish at 61.5? Then I need some kind of switch? And maybe a new LNB too?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

To get HD locals via satellite you would have to subscribe to a HD package. What was being referred to is the fact that the 622 has an HD OTA tuner built-in for getting HD over the air.

NV HD locals are on both 61.5 and 129 as I recall. To get them you have to subscribe to locals and an HD package, if you want them via sat. If you have a D500 pointed at 110/119 then you could point the D300 at either satellite. Or have E* or yourself put up a single dish (1000.2 for western arc or 1000.4 for eastern arc) to receive all sats on an arc.

If you choose to use your existing separate dish, we need to know how your 500 is outfitted (2 Duals? Twin? switch?) and if the LNBs on each dish are legacy or DishPro.

I was told by the CSR that I could get the local HDs because I already subscribe to locals with my 250 package. He also said I would get HBO/Showtime in HD since I already have HBO/Showtime.

We discussed OTA and I told him that I was too far out for OTA and made sure I understood him. He assured me that I could get the HD locals from Dish without having an HD package. The reason is my TV is kinda old (rear projection) and I'm not sure what it will look like/be worth it. I wanted another 625 but the 622 was his idea. He said I could check out my TV with the locals and add an HD package later if I liked it.

I'm not sure if he knows what he's talking about but he sounded like he knew. LOL!

The 500 has a DP Quad LNB. The 300 has a dual legacy LNB.

I thought the cables for the 300 were still ran, but I cut them for some reason.

So, I'm thinking that I'll try to get a 1000.2 dish. If that doesn't work I'll try to get the installer to hook me up with the 300 dish.

The 300 would need a DP Dual and then you'll need to add a switch - DP34 if you can run 2 lines to the receiver, or a DPP33 if you need/want just 1 line.

Hopefully the installer will want to put up a 1000.2.
