Nascar 2020

Next two races will be run with no fans in the stands. It will be same as a rain out restart. They usually don't have fans in the stands then either.https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nascar/2020/03/12/coronavirus-fears-force-nascar-ban-fans-next-two-races/5033679002/
They are going to race but the public is not invited.:eeek

At least we still get a race to watch...if mother nature cooperates long enough. TV Ratings ought to get quite the boost...certainly no other sports are left to be on TV up against it. I would hope for a good show for the potential new fans who might wander by, but then again, it's on a 1.5mi and back to the tiny hp/"giant ass spoiler" package, so that is probably a longshot.

This will only last until a crew member or two get the Virus then it will be done tho.

I guess the other shoe has dropped. Earlier there were rumblings that NASCAR was revising the weekend schedule for Xfinity and Cup to both run on Saturday w/ no practice...and now there is word out of Atlanta that the teams were told to pack up and head home. Guess it was inevitable. :(

EDIT: apparently Homestead postponed now, too. IndyCar following suit with its races as well.

I guess we'll be seeing reruns of every sports there is because those anchors can't fill the time talking about the virus etc.:(

It looks like Fox has given its local stations back the weekend daytime slots, where most will run reruns, old movies or infomercials. Fox Sports One is going to pick up the only live sports available, horse racing. Look for the race reruns on FS2.

Fox has suspended its weekday sports-argument shows in favor of reruns of actual sports for the duration. Do not know if that includes their NASCAR show.

The hits keep coming...

Scratch Texas, Bristol, Richmond, Talladega, and Dover off the list for now. (I'm going to need some stronger antidepressants. :oldno )

Interesting in that release that they say they still plan to run all 36 races. Guess we'll be seeing some mid-week races at somepoint...not sure how else they'll shoehorn that many extra events w/o doing so.

Wow! Maybe I won't have to sit in the cold and rain at Richmond whenever it's rescheduled.

Instead of drying some tracks they will be using these and not using slicks but snow tires. :)

Going a little broader than NASCAR, but including NASCAR, a lot of sports have a higher opinion of their role in the world than is justified. NASCAR is going to run all 36 races, which really means about 3 times that with the other 2 series. OK.

Well, fact is that sports have a season. Pretty much there is a spreadsheet in every networks’ HQ with what is going to be on for a year or more penciled in. Just as there is a shortage now, there is a glut coming. A glut that is almost as much of a problem for the networks. They really don’t need mid-week or doubleheader NASCAR. Just as they really don’t need the NBA in August, the Masters or Kentucky Derby in September, or whatever.

And, no, they cannot just “move X to TBS or Lifetime”. There is a finite number of people that want to watch sports, and further splitting the market by having all of the events that are supposed to be on in August, plus all of the events that were supposed to be on in April, on in August, serves no purpose.

At the end of the day NASCAR is going to have to just start back and accept that the spring was cancelled.

FOX Sports to televise eNASCAR iRacing Pro Series Invitational opener on FS1

FOX Sports, teaming with NASCAR and iRacing, delivers the first-ever eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series event Sunday, March 22, at 1:30 p.m. ET on FS1 and the FOX Sports app. Titled FOX NASCAR iRACING, the 90-minute, simulation-style eSports program includes a cross-section of competitors from the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series and a group of NASCAR dignitaries.

FOX NASCAR broadcasters Jeff Gordon, Mike Joy and Larry McReynolds call the action from the iRacing virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway.

NASCAR icon Dale Earnhardt Jr. and NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Bobby Labonte headline a high-powered lineup, including two-time and defending NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, 2012 NASCAR Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski, 2018 NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano, three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin, 2016 NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year Chase Elliott, 2008 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Clint Bowyer, 2014 NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year Kyle Larson and 2017 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series champion Christopher Bell.

With all the races that are being postpones, I don't see how they'll have time to make them all up, so probably best to just say they're canceled.

Interesting conjecture floating about for the Indy 500 possibly being rescheduled as a NASCAR/Indy combo weekend with the Brickyard 400 and Xfinity (road course) races. Going to be a strange Memorial day for race fans...Potential (likely) Indy and Coke 600 postponements, plus Monaco already cancelled completely.

They should run Nascar and Indy car at the same time. See what car is better.
