Great , we need another Waltrip in the booth ....

Truex will find another ride if they do shut down the 56 team
Ya, but I can't wait to see Mikey and Darell together in the booth.
Surprise of the day, Dale Jr. on the pole.
Too bad you dont get diddly points wise for poles
changes to next years schedule
NASCAR has awarded Kansas Speedway two night races for 2014, including the Sprint Cup race on Saturday night, May 10. In addition to the Kansas 400 Sprint Cup Series race on the night before Mothers Day, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series SFP 250 will run under the lights on Friday night, May 9. The 2014 fall weekend races will be run during the day, with the Nationwide Series Kansas Lottery 300 set for Saturday, Oct. 4, and the Hollywood Casino 400 Sprint Cup race the fourth event in the Chase for the Sprint Cup on Sunday, Oct. 5. To accommodate Kansas Speedway, fellow International Speedway Corporation track Darlington Raceway agreed to switch its traditional Mothers Day weekend race with the April date Kansas has had since 2010
no they just swapped Darlington and Kansas dates. Rumor was Darlington would go back to the Labor Day weekend but that didnt come to fruition

NAPA Auto Parts leaving Michael Waltrip Racing at end of year
"After thorough consideration, NAPA has made the difficult decision to end its sponsorship arrangement with Michael Waltrip Racing effective December 31, 2013. NAPA believes in fair play and does not condone actions such as those that led to the penalties assessed by NASCAR. We remain supportive of the millions of NASCAR fans and will evaluate our future position in motorsports."
The Southern 500 on it's traditional Labor Day slot was one tough ticket.
One thing not in its favor was the potential for brutally hot and humid weather.
I went to three of these before the change.
The first was 1997. At 10 am a marine layer of air coming off the Atlantic had set in while the air aloft was under the influence of a huge Bermuda High. By 10 am the temp had reached 85* with humidity around 75%..
It kept the rescue squads busy.
The next time was 1998..100* that day.
The final one was a Jeff Burton win in a rain shortened event.
April is about the best month for this event as temps are reasonable and the spring is the second driest time of year in the Pee Dee
Problem I have with it was that it was Traditionally on that date for many years growing up ....
We have the same 90-100* temps and humidityin Brooklyn in August.
Ok...It gets hot in summer. Down here it sometimes seems relentless. Weeks on end without a drop of rain and nary a cloud in the sky.
We got lucky this year. Only hit 90 about 10 times. last year we had 90* on 85 days.
