NASA launches an atv into orbit

No, its not an all-terrain vehicle, but the ESA's Automated Transfer Vehicle, taking cargo to the Space Station.
Launch shortly on the NASA channel on 105W, and maybe other locations.

Since the Russian launches are using the 'quick' ascent mode(6 hours), both for supplies and now crew, I wonder why ESA is using the old slow and cautious (10 days-launch to rendezvous) route?
