Went to the other side of the tracks to see what was happening - most of the eye patch guys receivers have quit working as of 3 PM Pacific time today.
From what I read, there was an ECM yesterday. That must have been a regularly scheduled knock out... still not a lot of N3 out there besides the HD's, Porn, and International channels.

I just noticed... I was logged into the forums here, and was away from my desk for awhile. When I returned to my desk my session was logged out of Satelliteguys.us, from the time-out.
Right at the top of the screen, above the "Satellite guys sponsors" was a red bannerer-ad, "N3 fix available...May x" advertisement bar. Does this not seem hypocritical? Was this some mistake? There is "no hack talk" posted everywhere on the forums, and on the site, but if if means advertising dollars, we'll display the advert?
Did anyone else notice this? I've never noticed that before.
It's an automated (google I believe) ad, scott has worked in the past to keep those types of google ads from appearing through the service, but some have slipped through in the past.

Next time get the URL of the ad, and post it in the Operations forum that way we can remove it from the site
Personally, I hope the pirates crack the N3 thing, and the sooner the better.
The only reason the pirates were buying DVB-S2 boxes like the Coolsat 8000/8100 and Diamond 9000, and the Pansat 9000 is because they were using them on the Nimiq sats for HD stuff. When those sats went N3, we didn't really see the prices of those receivers get cheaper. All we saw was the Diamond web page go away, and absolutely no support for the Diamond.
If this new Nagra3 thing does stop the pirates, it will eventually put many of the receiver manufacturers out of business, at least for North American versions. THey'll still probably make them for Europe, but I can't see them wasting money on the small number of FTA hobbiests in North America.
So while there MAY be a short term reduction in price for the currently available receivers, I think the long term effect will be higher prices for receivers. I just hope that whatever DVB-S2 8PSK HD receivers are in the pipeline make it to the market before the companies go under. I think the pirates help our hobby, not hurt it.
Just my opinion.
N3 will not be here for long, I am hearing another smart card swap by the end of the year to a new system that is only being made for Dish.
