I just thought I would let you all know, my son assembled a complete C/Ku-band system last year but he was using a big, heavy white fiberglass dish that he got from someone locally, and during the winter (in a heavy snowstorm) the dish mount came apart under snow load and we think it damaged the positioner arm in the process (it's not bent so it might be repairable, but he didn't try). During the four or five months the system was working he found he barely used it and his wife didn't like the big dish in the yard, so he's decided to sell all the C-band stuff. He bought the Pansat 2500A new and used it very little, and I am pretty sure he bought the Corotor II Plus feedhorn and the LNB's new, and as far as I know the only thing that was used was the GI 450i receiver, but it appeared to work great. He does not say so in the ad but I'm pretty sure the GI 450i does have a descrambler board in it, though it's not subscribed to anything (don't hold me to that, though - if it really matters to you, you should probably ask him about that).

So, if anyone wanted to get into C-band this would be almost everything you need for both analog and digital reception, with the exception of the dish itself, the positioner arm, and the cables to connect it all up. I'm not sure if he plans to list the dish and/or positioner separately as "local pickup only" item(s) or not; if you are anywhere near the Muskegon, Michigan area you could ask him. By the way the problem with the dish was that a steel "pin" (I call it a pin but it's actually a short rod about an inch thick) apparently broke its weld and fell out and that caused the dish to fall away from the mount, and a brass bushing fell out also - we epoxied both back into place this spring and they appear to be holding okay but I would not guarantee that the epoxy will hold forever. In any case there is no way this dish can be shipped anywhere, it is a 10' diameter dish and it is HEAVY, but it gave really good reception during the time it was in use. As for the positioner, when the mount fell apart the positioner arm went all the way down into a fully retracted position but did not bend (as far as we can tell) so again a person who knows what they are doing might be able to get it going again (he did not even try to power it up after that). However, neither the dish nor the positioner arm are included in his auction listing, and since he's working today I can't ask him what his plans are for those - I only know his wife would like to see that dish gone from the front yard! I won't even talk about the 15' long (approximately) well casing pipe we used to mount the dish on, that I nearly dislocated my shoulder trying to carry and drop into the ground :( - I am afraid that's going to be there until it rusts away!

Anyway, the URL for his auction listing is:

Again, that includes a couple of receivers (used analog in what I would call very good condition, and nearly new digital) with remotes, a UHF remote kit for the Pansat (these are relatively expensive!), UHF remote for the GI 450i, a Corotor II Plus feedhorn (this is the wideband model, though to the best of my knowledge the LNB's are not wideband), C and Ku band LNB's, and I think a 4 input DiSEqC Switch and a couple of splitters. Note that if the description on eBay differs from what I've said here, go by what it says on eBay, I'm typing this from memory (I helped him install that system, but it was almost a year ago and my memory is far from perfect!). The one thing I do know is that last fall the system was getting very good reception on both C and Ku bands (better on Ku than I was getting on my 10' mesh dish!), with both analog and digital signals, and it's a shame that dish mount couldn't stand up to a Michigan winter.
