Today was suppose to be the day I had my install. I know, most are you saying that I said the same thing last week. It was really suppose to be 2 weeks ago but I saw that the csr had made a mistake on my account so I had to cancel and then open another account to correct it and receive another install date. Last Wed. was going to be the day. The installer calls around 11 (my install was from 8-12). He has a family emergency and cannot make it. I call Direct and tell them and to get me another install date (today) and give me $100 credit. Phone rings today and the installers company tells me the installer has been in a accident and cannot make it. I call Direct back and tell them it is not to be for me to get Direct. I want to go ahead and cancel. She then transfer me to the retention dept. and she says what can we do to still have you. I said another $100 credit and this Sat. for my install. She puts me on hold and come back and said you have your $100 credit. She put me on hold and called the installer company. Came back on and said they would call me back within the hour. As soon as I put down the phone and it was the installer company. She asked if I wanted a.m. or p.m. for this Saturday. I have not seen any new hd from Direct but so far they have bent over backwards to keep me as a customer.:)

Lol Boba but i am a service tech for computers and yes family emergincies and accidents can happen. As i see it he has gotten some good credits. Hope this install is better. It is not Directs fault the installers have had problems.

If you call 2 cancelled appointments bending over backwards then I will call you a pushover.

lol. This pushover with credits and rebates will be having one year of free programming for a year.:D

Ray,

It is DTV's fault they have no installers. Entry level jobs in a field that still needs tool guys have had the money has been squeezed out to the point where burger flippers will not attempt satellite work.

Folks work for the HSPs ( DTV Home Service Providers) a week or two and move on.

Joe

Well the adventure goes on. After 2 cancellations by the install company, I was setup for today-I thought. Got a call by them about a hour ago. They said no installers in the area. What a frigging joke!!! I called Direct and cancelled-$200 credit and rebates-gave them up for sanity!! I thought Direct wanted customers. If anyone from Direct wants more information on this fiasco, pm Scott and he can verify that you are with Direct and then Scott can pm me.

I'm betting that someone did a drive-by on your install and decided that it was too much trouble.

With Direct dish up everywhere in the neighborhood. The install was going to be a simple one. One friging dish and a hddvr. How hard can this be?

It depends entirely on the configuration of your installation and noone elses. It isn't like cable having utility pole contacts and/or underground service. If your roof is taller or steeper or it looks like the trees are going to be a problem they may well walk away from a chance to spend more money than they will get for the installation. Often it comes down to the type of roofing or siding. Tile, foam, gravel or shake roofing is an almost guaranteed loss for an installer looking to clear trees. Facia and siding mounts aren't as simple as they used to be.

At the rates the installers are reportedly getting paid, if it looks like it will take more than an hour on a roof or a ladder, it is a losing proposition.

Both neighbors on each side of me. Neighbor across the street also has Direct. I have Dish and was adding Direct. LOS is no problem. No trees. It is just frustrating and hard to figure how a company can operate like this. I have tile roofing. Its funny that made no difference to Dish.
