Is the smart card provided by the installer or isn't it supposed to be included with the receiver?

Its not in the smart card slot and it wasnt with the cables or manual. Where did you guys find your card?

Thanks!

The smart card is built on the motherboard and is not removable. The smart card slot is empty. :)

Almost all Dish Receivers come like that now.

It's internal to the receiver. Newer receivers are designed that way, with the slot provided for replacements of the built-in "card".

Edit: and what Scott said. :)

A smart card to me is the removable credit card sized thing with the little chip on it.

Once you permanantly make it part of the motherboard, to me it becomes just another chip. IMHO.

Its a silly thing to argue mdonnely but its a slow day at work so why not. :D

but thats not wht a smartcard is... GPRS cell phones have smart cards and they are the size of a postage stamp. Some credit cards have smartcards built in.

hell some watches have smartcards in them you can pop out and put in certain readers.

i guess to put it mildly.. it aint the size that counts.

Gotta ditch Dish Network for Comcast
