it won't show unless it sees a media share on your network. So either the network settings hosed up on the HR44 or you no longer have a computer/device publically sharing media.
That App was never officially supported, and the "chosen ones" saw it being removed for a while now, i dont forsee it coming back, but new hardware may help things.
This was always a beta feature that wasn't well developed. Similar to YouTube going away rather than being updated.
As the hardware evolves I wouldn't be surprised to see some features return as part of enhanced apps, but in the mean time they are gone. Eventually they may remove it from the HR2x line too, time will tell.
I think they are trying to cleanup little used features hardware and software wise, look at the front panels on the new boxes, just a power button...

This was pretty much the only thing it was good for thought.... Granted now you would need to switch inputs, but I would venture to say 99% of smart tvs have dlna built in natively, as do most bluray/home theater. Hell my router runs the DLNA server, I dont even need a PC on. Technology should evolve, not work backwards, the only way I would have seen this app as a benefit and not just a feature, is if your genie was installed on a "dumb" tv.
Yeah I have plenty of options stream through the PS3 or the Blu Ray player or the TV just about everything has that ability - which is why it's disappointing that DTV would drop it from their units. There is something to be said about the convenience factor of having it in the DTV receiver I can listen with just a couple button pushes rather than changing inputs & finding another remote....not to mention that you can still view what ever your watching in the background while browsing through the files on the media server...
It's just disappointing to lose a feature that I have always enjoyed.
