Normally, I would disagree with you, but this press release is just stupid.

First of all, what do the "It's Alive" movies have to do with Mummies? And all three of them were on last week anyway, so why are they announcing them for May? (On a second read, they aren't actually relating It's Alive to Mummies, but it's still poorly written and pointless.)

More importantly, Jools Holland was never a member of The Cure! I think he was in Squeeze, but I'm not a Squeeze fan, so maybe I'm wrong.

There is no rating for these channels since they do not rely on advertising to get their revenue. The same with HDnet and HDnet movies or any premium channel or non-commercial channel. I guess the point is change the channel and move on. Nobody has to like everyone of them. Just move on if it is not your cup of tea.

Sounds like you're sticking your fingers in your ears, not my eye. The question was "which are the 'compelling' HD channels?", not "what is the definition of 'compelling'".
Seeing how you're posting in an HD programming forum and obviously have strong opinions on what does or does not make for good TV viewing, I'd really like to know. So instead of sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming "la-la-la-la" while stomping your foot and running to your room with "I'm done:river " -- how 'bout enlightening me (and possibly other quality-challenged HD viewers) about which are the one or two compelling channels?

Lighten up, Keng. And by the way, I agree wholeheartedly with your low opinion of the Kung-Fu channel, but Monsters actually offers a lot of quality movies you wouldn't get to see in HD otherwise. Sure it's a niche ... but it's one I enjoy. As far as overwhelming pressure -- HD itself is pretty much still a niche so I don't think the pressure coming from such a relatively small percentage of viewers would "force" the existence of any HD channels. It's not really a need. It's just fun. If you don't enjoy it, why bother?
