I have it as I am an avid Orioles fan but live in Alabama. I pretty much get to see the end of each game because they run over the alotted time period. I also get Big 10 with all of its football and basketball. Other than that, I hardly watch it. You should get most college football and basketball games.

You will pick up the endof MLB baseball games that go over the time slot originally allocated for the game, and usually the pre and post game shows (same with hockey and basketball). Also some (not all) college football and basketball, CFL Football and various other golf, outdoor shows, fox programing etc. For $5.99 I get it, but some subs don't think it is worth it.
It's worth it for all of the reasons you mentioned and now some of it is in HD.
You will like it if you like sports other than pro sports. Lots of stuff on around the country. I sub to it since I like a lot of college sports.
As one poster already said, you'll get a good deal of college football on Big Ten Network. Plus, they show the replays through the year if you get "sick" without football. 
I also enjoy all the basketball, baseball, and softball on Big Ten Network. It is probably also worth mentioning that the package includes the NBA and NHL Networks. I've also been able to enjoy a lot of hockey as the replays are all free and clear (at least for me). I think it is well worth $5.99. I also find myself trying to catch the ending of the Diamondbacks and Marlins games.
I never got the Cubs and White Sox (in my area with the AT100+ package) until actually subscribing to the Multi-Sport package and getting CSN Chicago. I could have gotten them on one of the alternate networks had I had a higher package.

I watch all the Cubs game on comcast Chicago that are not covered on WGN. Also all games are in HD. I love it.

Unless Comcast Chicago is one of your RSNs, Multi-Sport package should not be giving you Cubs games.
Its great for college football and college basketball. There are some RSN's that arent included in the package though(i.e CSN NW). Im satisfied with it, but I would be really satisfied if they could add that channel. There are others as well like the YES network that currently arent available with the multi-sports pack.
Bottom line is if you are a big college football or basketball fine you will like it.
I had it for a while but noticed almost every time I wanted to watch some game on another markets RSN it was blocked, especially the MSG stuff.

Don't discount picking up the endings of some MLB games. As a Cards fan living in NY, I've gotten to see quite a bit of them lately this way, including most of that amazing 15-inning game against the Dodgers the other night. Plus if you have a favorite team outside your market, it's nice to see the RSN coverage of your team before and after the games. If your a Cardinals fan, for instance, ESPN shows you almost nothing of them unless they are playing the Mets or Dodgers, but the FOXMW pre and postgame shows make me feel right at home.

It doesn't need to be one of your RSNs you only need to be in Cubs territory. Here in Northern Indiana my RSNs are CSN Chicago and Fox Midwest.This gives me the Cubs and Soxes but, by subbing to the sports pack I also get Tigers (FS Detroit) and Reds (FS Cinn) games.
Check an MLB blackout map to determine if you're in anyone elses territory.
If you happen to like soccer, then Multi-Sports will get you extra UEFA Champions League matches that might not be on your local RSN. They are not blacked out at all (since the teams are all in Europe), so you can watch them on any Multi-Sports channel that happens to show them.

I'm not sure if you intended for your first statement and second statement to be related, but just for clarification even if the RSNs go full-time HD you will still be subject to the same blackout restrictions that you are today.
Lots of college sports like hockey, lacrosse, diving, swimming, gymnastics, etc. pro and college volleyball even some high school football games. In other words it is great for those who really enjoy sports, not just the snobbish pro and big college games.

The pre and post game stuff would be interesting as would some of the other programming. MSG has been doing the Rangers in 60 post game shows where they condense the hockey game down into a 60 minute show cutting out the slow parts.
So, for the non blacked out content I may be willing to try it again.
I really enjoy watching college hockey and lacrosse. I find though, that life gets in the way of taking part in all the activities I enjoy.

NHL channel picks up the TSN game of the week (at least it did last year) which is not blacked out unless your home team is playing. Plus they pick up college, some AHL and major international tourneys.
I think NBA channel is similar but don't quote me on it.
I always order Sports Pak for indoor lax Jan-Apr, which now really just is Colorado Mammoth games. It was carrying Arena Football but the league looks like it's folding. You also get MLL lax from Denver. All of these are not blacked out.

Any pre-season NFL games that are on the RSNs are usually blacked out, whether they are live or on tape-delay. I guess NFL Network has the rights to show them outside of your market.
