Hello,

The new 622 HD-DVR software apparently has an upgrade to the MPEG4 decoder software on versions greater than 405:

L406 Release Notes

MPEG 4 video improvements

So, for those with the high-end HD displays - is there any improvement?

MPEG4 HD channels:

9419 A&E HD
9425 ESPN2 HD
9426 NFL HD
9427 UNI HD
9429 National Geographic HD
9435 Starz HD
9458 Cinemax HD
9461 HGTV HD
9462 FoodTV HD

and all HD Satellite Locals and HD Satellite RSNs

Yep, I too have noticed mysterious audio and video dropouts when watching OTA even though I am getting a rock-solid signal. As for MPEG-4, I have not noticed any substantial improvement. In fact, the channels I watch appear to be getter worse. Overall, the DishHD product is in serious trouble. E* can at lease do the right thing by dropping the $20 charge.

If Jim says the picture got worse, that means there must some improvements. :)

BTW anyone seeing any improvements on the SD channels lately?

My Ghost hunters from SciFi the other night seemed to look better, and that was before I noticed threads about it. Id say it looks better to me.

BTW Scott, since you asked ;). What do you know technically about the SD and HD improvements and the Mpeg4 improvements in 4.09. I know some have said sharper, but do you have any fact to back this up?

4.09 has hosed the Mpeg4 recordings from my HD locals... pixalating where before on same recording none... Underworld looks good from Starz though...

Yeap. Mine, too. But you already saw my post in the 4.09 thread. Still haven't heard back from either of my two "informants". Unusual. Man Dish must hate this area of the country. No Fox, No FSNBA...

S~

Big improvement, sharper, better color rendition and motion blur is gone. However, I am getting pixelating fron LIL HD that I didn't have before.
