Channel 77 has been added, informing customers that the following MPEG2 HD channels will be discontinued soon:
  • Showtime
  • HDNet Movies
  • Universal HD

The slides (played with a Sirius XM station as audio) tell customers how to tune the MPEG4 channels and what to do if they have old equipment that won't receive MPEG4.

AWESOME! Making room for more HD hopefully. Anyone know how many MPEG4 channel could replace a single MPEG2?

Doubt it since those come from either 110 or 119 and D*'s plan it to keep the core programming on 99/101/103 AFAIK.

I think they started with the LA DNS channels. The rest probably don't have long to go.

The sequencing looks more like a business than technical decision, like they'll start with these and work their way up to doing ESPN and HBO last.

Looking at the transponder map, it's an interesting combination of channels. They aren't freeing whole transponders at a time:
Code:
2 HBOH 70 10 D5 @110W <-- Kept
2 SHOH 71 10 D5 @110W Removed
2 HDNM 78 10 D5 @110W Removed
--
3 UHD 74 32 D7S @119W Removed
3 ABCE 86 32 D7S @119W <-- Kept

Does your eSATA drive improve your HR2X performance?

Swap out HR20 for HR22?
