MPEG-4 When?

Ok,

Now that I've made the switch, I am curious. Where is Dish at with the conversion to MPEG-4 technology? Is there a scheduled switch date? And what about switching over the equipment? Is there any word? or is it all hush hush-no news?

And what about an all in one home solution for DVR use with receivers scattered through the house? Are they working on that one??

I figured I had best get my head out of the sand.

I have the TV2 output on the 942 connected to the home distribution system, so I can watch and control the DVR from any TV in the house along with the 811 sat boxes. Last night I tried to use a combiner to feed both the OTA Ant from the diplexer and the DVR feed into the ANT in on the 811s but I didn't get a good picture. I'm guessing one of the other digital locals was interfering - I will be investigating further soon (the DVR could be tuned to on the 811s if the OTA antenna wasn't plugged in also). I currently have to turn the TVs themselves to the correct channel for the DVR playback, which is annoying because I cant play it throughout the receivers then.

So, assuming that I can find a channel to have the DVR broadcast on that doesn't get interference from the OTA Digitals, I will be able to just turn to say Channel 50 on the 811 and have it be the the DVR from the 942.

It would be nice though to have the boxes be able to control the DVR themselves though and a more clean interface.

Oh well, this is 100x better then how I previously had my digital cable and DVR system setup

I hope they resurrect Voom's whole house distribution system or something like it, they need HD distributed, not SD.

I kinda have that now with a combination of Replays, a D* hd receiver and My 921 and 6000u... and 3 pc's... Can stream from one Replay to another or from one of the Pc's...
