I have been a Dish customer for a little over a year. We have moved(note that past tense) and was upgrading to HD at the same time. First they tell me I don't qualify, this I was told 3 times. On the 4th try someone finally let it slip that I didn't meet their new credit checking requirements to get the HD upgrades !!!!! WTH?!?! After a 4 round fight, I win by talking to an Account Rep when I told them I was cancelling. I called back a few days later to schedule the install for the weekend that we moved, July 30. Went round and round again, about the notes on the my account that I NOW qualify for the upgrades and the pricing for the equipment. Another Account Rep gets me squared away after a 1 HOUR hold, 15 minutes actually spent talking to someone :( This guy tells me I won't be charged for the intitial install I'm doing ($49 for the HD receiver) and scheduled it for July 30. I check my account a few days later and see a charge for $49 from them. Call back, they want to CREDIT it to my Dish account, I make them credit it back to my card. I call the day before to verify the install, it has been changed to AUGUST 9!!!! No notice nothing! They did this to me LAST time I moved 7 months ago. I call again and go round and round. Can't find any notation that was when my install was supposed to be and the best they can do is move it to August 7. The guy gets here and tells me he needs a tripod to get a clear view of 110,119, and 129.

This is what I am doing. I am getting a basic HD receiver installed initially. A few weeks down the road I am getting the HD DVR installed. How should I get the guy to set it up for it will be ready for the upgrade without problems later? Should he point the dish to 61.5 for a better signal, or will he need 2 dish's to do that? He is only planning on using 1 dish for this setup.

credit check for a current customer upgrade to HD? they did not check mine. and why did you not qualify for the move did you move within one year twice? maybe its considered a dish-it-up that's only once a year.

Well, I think the CSR termed it incorrectly. DISH Network has a classification of customers by A, B, or C Dish'N It Up upgrade plans with A being the best, soon to be supplimented by a star system. From what I know, everyone I've checked for Dish'N It Up qualification qualifies for a C upgrade plan, whether it be a customer that was installed only 3 days ago. If you got your original installation through a retailer, ask them if they can do the DISH Mover and the Dish'N It Up upgrade. Maybe the CSR's you've encountered didn't have a clue. Or try ceo@dishnetwork.com.

Yes I moved in Decemeber and used my "Free" move so it wouldn't cost me $50. I knew I would have to pay that this time around. The problem was when I called to upgrade, they couldn't "qualify" me for the current HD promotions for upgrade. They now run a credit check to see if they can LEASE you the equipment. I don't get it. If the equipment isn't returned, you still end up paying for it. I don't see the point of the credit check. The Account Specialist that I first talked to, Jade, told me that even NEW customers have to pass the credit check for HD equipment leasing! So, new customers are turned away also  I politely informed them that was the stupidest thing I ever heard.

Can I get an answer to this part please?

You didn't really provide enough information. Will you have only one receiver or multiples? If you have only one (211?) and then upgrade to the 622, there should really be no issues. They will use DP or DPP LNBs and those are compatible with the 2-tuner input on the 622 using just the single cable that was run for the 211 and the separator that comes with the 622. If you have more than 2 receivers after the upgrade then you will probably need an external switch that will not be provided in the initial installation and an additional cable between the LNBs and the switch.

Where do you live? If you plan to sub. to your locals and the HD LiLs are on 129, then that basically makes the decision for you. If you can receive 129, then the set-up will be one Dish 1000 pointed to 110/119/129, which is apparently what the installer is planning to use. If you want a better signal from 61.5 for the voom and other HD channels it carries, then that will require a second dish as you will still need at least a D500 for 110/119. You could discuss your options with the installer in advance and make sure he has the correct equipment with him, but anything beyond what E* specifies on your work order based on your subscription will be on your dime...
