Can you move recordings from one EHD to another? Is there a way to do this? Or is the only option to move recordings from the EHD to the DVR and then plugin second EHD to move recordings to it?

I believe there is a Linux based program that COULD accomplish it, but in terms of designed operation, no. Yes, going back to the DVR works.

The only way, that we can discuss in this forum, is for you to copy from EHD#1 to DVR, plug in EHD#2 and then copy from DVR to EHD#2. That's the easiest way. "Other" ways are not guaranteed and it's a lot more trouble.

I think we can discuss this all we want. What I've done is booted up a Scientific Linux LiveCD, logged in as root, plugged in both already-formatted drives, and then dragged and dropped. It is not even slightly challenging unless you log in as some other user and mess up the file ownership and protections.

I used Knoppix years ago to do exactly this when I upgraded from a 500 GB EHD to a 1 TB EHD on my 622. Format the new EHD with your ViP DVR first then you can copy the folders between the EHDs. I'm out of practice, so I can't give you details, but searching this Forum should turn up the discussion.

any linux live cd should get you what you want only problem is each file is Ex. 61614686844646486.ts and 664118618616816161616.ts with no real info other then the date the file was created. Have fun

Using one of the data dump utilities allows you to look inside the catalog files which will contain the Info screen contents. But yeah, Dish didn't make it easy...

Does anyone have the dish remote code for TCL L40FHDF11TA

Wished Dish stored Timers and Favorites in the Cloud.
