Motorize Channel Master dish?

is it possible to make that dish (Channel Master part # 3041221 36" x 27") motorized, sadoun is telling me NO.

anybody attempted doing that?

although i don't think its impossible to motorize (and i don't have one to try) . these dishes are newer design and have a lower mounting point than the older primestar/channelmaster dishes.

heres a photo of one of my primestars and you can use this link to look at the globecast/channelmaster dish. The globecast/channelmaster dish will show a lower mounting point for the skewable mount. lower mount & lower holes for the bolts (i don't even see bolt holes for the higher mount on this dish) so they might have been covered/filled.

the primestar/channelmaster dish mounting point is in the center of the dish.
with the globecast/channelmaster mount being lower i don't think it will track the arc correctly on a motor. but untill someone tries it, this is only a guess

There is a long old thread around here about motorizing Primestar dishes with the SG2100 motor.
What most everyone did, was make their own mount to attach the dish to the motor shaft.
If you get that dish for free, read the thread for some good mounting ideas.
If the dish is going to cost you money, get something else.


edit: oh, 36x27! That's not so bad.
People have been wanting to use 32x18's or some such...
