Twice in recent weeks I've had my the motor on my Dish go only so far and stop. Resetting the motor fixes it but I am wondering..What causes the problem in the first place?
Motor freezes..Only goes so far..

It's called 'limits'.
Not sure what you have. Some motors have limits. Some receivers have limits.
Clear the limits on one or the other should fix the problem.

Clear the limits on the receiver-I have one of those that I had set up when I got my first motor. Maybe I was green, or the receiver's menus weren't that clear to me, but I remember getting stuck like that between 2 adjacent satellites. That was as far as the motor would go! I was puzzled until I thought of that, and cleared out the limits, which fixed the problem for me. Still didn't see how I "set" the limits, but I must have.
