I've been using the Moto DCT 3412 and just yesterday, checked with my local Comcast office and learned that they are now using the DCH 3416.

I asked about differences and all they could tell me was that the newer DCH model has a cable card inside (and that it may not recognize the box with PPV or On Demand and that a telephone call to service would fix things if that happened). They also said that it did not have any more memory.

Other than cosmetics with the new face plate, is thee any reason to switch boxes now?

My current box has some glitches but they may be related to th porogram guide rather than the box itself.

The xx16 does have 40GB more storage than the xx12 (160 vs 120). Other than that the only other technical difference is what they told you.

This site has a lot of info on all of the Moto DVR models: DVR Chatter

Thanks for the reply.

I'll have to go back to their office to confirm the increased memory of the 3416, as the person there the other day said that the memory was the same as the 3412.

Is Cablevision making room for more channels?

Will Cablevision ever get the HDnet channel?
