More and more studios are jumping on the HD DVD bandwagon.
Today BCI, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Navarre Corporation, announced its plans to be one of the first independent suppliers of HD programming in both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray formats, with the first four titles available this August: "That's the Way of the World" (Featuring the world-famous Earth, Wind & Fire and Harvey Keitel), Galaxina (a sci-fi/comedy spoof featuring the late Playboy Playmate Dorothy Stratton), and two films from Spain's cult horror icon Paul Naschy: "Night of the Werewolf" and "Vengeance of the Zombies".
Last week Magnolia Home Entertainment announced its plans to release HD DVD titles from Mark Cuban's HDNet and HDNet Movies channels, including the documentary "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room", Steven Soderbergh's "Bubble", "The War Within", "The Shuttle Discovery's Historic Mission", and "Bikini Destinations".
Universal Studios, in addition to previously announced titles, plans to release "Happy Gilmore" and "The Rundown" in June, "Friday Night Lights", and "Pitch Black" in July, according to their website.
And of course tomorrow Warner is supposed to release two new HD DVD titles: "Goodfellas" and "Swordfish", followed by "Rumor Has It" and "Training Day" next week. "Rumor Has It" will be the first DVD/HD DVD combo.
