I have a 10-foot dish and can c-band and Ku-band broadcasts.

Where exactly (what transponder) can I find Montana PBS? On AMC-3 (K3 in my 4DTV), I get PBSx on K3-600 and Georgia PBS on K3-640.

Any help will be greatly apprecaited.

Thanks.

Can I then connect the DVB box to the cables from the 10-foot Perfect10 dish?

Thank you very much.

As you can see, I don't know much about this matter, but which of the following do I need?

DVB-S Satellite
DVB-C Cable
DVB-T Terrestrial
DVB-SI Specification for Service Information
DVB-CI Common Interface for conditional access

I thought the DVB box was just one simple box.

Thanks, again.

Thank you very much. Is SonicView SV-1000 PVR something you'd recommend?

Here is a recent thread on FTA PVRs.
Your SonicView was mentioned.

I wouldn't mind finding one either, but it must have blind scan.
If you aren't so hard-nosed about that feature, I think there might have been one mentioned that was acceptable.

yes i agree reading the review or the pvr thread helps
i like the pvr ideal (not pointing at one receiver ) but without a EPG
its really a manual set recording device which a stand alone dvd recorder can currently fill . now if EPG became widespread here in the US then i would jump for one.

Well, I live with a Dish 508 PVR, and once a timer is set up, it just goes about its business recording the same time slot every week.
So, it's true no EPG makes set up a little harder, but integrating the recording into the receiver has a number of advantages.

1) you should get a bit-for-bit copy of the telecast signal
not re-digitizing makes for great DVDs if you want 'em.

2) the timer, channel changing, and recording are all done in one box
no need to synchronize two boxes.

3) and the all time winner:
no extra remote controls!

I didn't think of that, so if your just looking for a certain time slot on the EPG then it will work just no information about the program . well thats a little better than i posted so it will turn on the receiver and move the dish to whatever timeslot you choose as long as the clock is set on the receiver.

thats good to know , down the road i might have to try the PVR

Can I then connect the DVB box to the cables from the 10-foot Perfect10 dish?

Thank you very much.
After you decide on which DVB receiver to get, this diagram shows you how to connect it:

Just remember to use an HF (high frequency) splitter with only one port power passthrough, and the power passthrough will go to your analog receiver. Good Luck!
