MLB 2012 Postseason

Well that was stressful as hell. In the end he got it done now. I don't know if I will be able to take it if Valverde tries to copy him in the 9th.

A-roid, with $116 million in remaining guaranteed contract due over the next five years, plus up to $30 million in home run milestone bonuses, gets pinch hit for by a 40 year old has-been. A-roid has missed 100 games over the last two years and has basically had a couple of Kevin Youkilis seasons of about 15 homers 60 RBI and .270 batting averages, with his steroidless trendline going where trendlines tend to go for 36 year old, left side infielders.

Can the Yankees even cash in on milestone home runs by a rent-a-has-been? Will the baseball marketplace reward the milestone achievements of a mediocre, part time player who was never really embraced by New Yorkers like a Mickey Mantle or even like a Don Mattingly? Can a win at all costs organization like the Yankees even keep a 100 game a year, middle of the pack offensive player in its plans? I don't see him as being any better than Paul O'Neil or Johnny Damon were when the Yankees split with them.

Of course the yankees can keep him, they have money growing on trees, this allows them to have the luxury of having the older player for such a situation

What's with Valverde's new setup. Never seen his air hump thing before. I have seen those lead off hits though.

Well, with Valverde on the mound this game is slip, slip, slipping away.
Really didn't want to have to use JV tomorrow.

Won't miss Valverde next year when he's elsewhere.

Well that ruined my night. All I can say is Verlander better pitch a complete game tomorrow so we don't have to deal with this.

I agree ...

Oakland will be sure to foul off as many JV pitches as possible to run his pitch count up.
He was at 90 pitches in the 5th inning last time out.

The A's took down a $100 million WS favorite in Texas. They have a shot to take dowm another one in Detroit.

This October could go the way of the old guard (Yankees/Cardinals/Giants) or the new blood (Reds/A's)

Oh Reds you are killing me. Why can't you win at home. Latos needs to pitch like he has the last few games and the Reds need some TIMELY hitting. They left a lot of runners in scoring position. I was at the game and the environment was great but on the second pitch of the game Leake gave up a HR and I was like, this is going to be a long night.

If the Giants are to advance, they need to beat their nemesis. Latos has been a Giants killer all his career. It should be a good game, go Giants!

I happen to be off today so I get to watch the Giants and Reds but it is absolutely ridiculous to have a game 5 at 1:00 eastern. Yes, it sucks that the Tigers game 5 isn't until 9:30 but at least that makes sense with it being on the west coast. The fans in Cincinnati and San Francisco have to be furious.
