The Blue Jays making the playoffs is good for Canada and MLB all around. However, every year we see one or two teams go on a spending spree and end up tanking it. I wish the Jays luck... heck I might even take the 5 hour drive and catch a weekend series, but am not confident their playoff bound yet.
Over spending is never a guaranty for success, ie- Yankees

PS- John Gibson as the new mananger... not a bad choice, but am sure there much have been better choices out there. Surely he's relationship w/ AA helped.
Let's call it as it is.. this was not a trade but a bonafide salary dump.. plain and simple. I hope MLB takes a long look at this and puts measures into place to prevent this sort of trade in the future.
Cheers,K
I wish the best as well. I will be rooting for them as well as Detroit seeing that alot of the keep players are former Marlins..
According to ESPN, Hiroki Kuroda has agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Yankees, $15M plus incentives....
Here's hoping that A. Sanchez decides to stay in Detroit.
I think the odds of his staying are much better than 50-50...but who knows. It would be nice if he stayed...
Evan Longoria has agreed to a $100 million contract extension that could keep him with the Tampa Bay Rays through the 2023 season.
The deal maintains the terms of his contract through 2016 and then tacks on six more years for the $100 million. The team has an option for 2023.
The Phillies, Red Sox, Yankees, Orioles, Cubs, and many more are inquiring on rightfielder Giancarlo Stanton, a major league source tells Cafardo. However, commissioner Bud Selig is watching the situation closely after the club's colossal salary dump in the Blue Jays deal. He didn't move to block that trade, but he may not be fond of a deal for the Marlins’ biggest draw.
Hmmm.... interesting:

I am already positive they will average less than 10 grand a game next year, BUT IF they get rid of Stanton...there will be more vendors than fans in that stadium.
Hey, the Tigers already have a working agreement with the Marlins, surprised they weren't mentioned .... then again, you never knew about the Cabrera trade BEFORE it happened either.
