 My 73" Mitsubishi DLP is inop, after only 18 months. I expected to have to replace the bulb periodically, when I bought it; but didn't expect the light engine to fail so soon. I had a 50' SD Mits, that lasted for years and thought I was buying a quality product.

The first light engine they put in would not work and apparently blew the new bulb (2 months), I had just payed for. This is such a common problem, that Mitsubishi extended the warranty on the light engine for an additional two years. Great, right? Except the parts are back ordered, so the just as well could have extended the warranty for ever. So here I sit at 5 weeks and counting.

Unfortunately it seems to be a trend. If a new HDTV breaks good luck getting parts to repair it. I hope you get your parts soon. Maybe call and complain enough that they will extend the warrantee another year.

After I posted , we got a call from Best Buy. They are replacing the TV. This time trying a 52" Sony LCD. Hope it works out better than the DLP.

LCD's have their own issue. However, you don't have to worry about the light engine. That particular model year has had multiple light engine failures reported in online forums.

The 2007 models 73731, 73732, 73833 seem to be holding up alot better.

Sony KDF-60wf655 Resolution

Any info on when we'll see (hear) Dolby Volume in new receivers?
