Missing channels on my RCA E86

Hey gang, your thoughts on this issue would be appreciated.

I have 6 DTV boxes at home (two of them HD) on a triple LNB and they have worked fine for a couple years under the current setup.

In the past few weeks, however, my E86 is not picking up channels FX and MSNBC...but I get them perfectly on the other units.

I've unplugged the power to the E86, done the action-menu reboot, unplugged the coax sat in and cycled the power on the multiplexer to no avail.

My E86 config indicates the proper dish.

It's obviously not a dish pointing issue. I have yet to to try another port on the multiplexer to see if one went kaput.

What to check next?

If that is a Hughes E-86 it runs hot and you may have a tuner failing.

You are correct. It's a Hughes brand and it was very warm to the touch when I checked it the other day. It's only three years old...and obviously didn't live up to the $500 price tag. Come to think of it, neither did my HD Tivo, Samsung HD, 4 RCAs and that other one I forgot about in the basement somewhere.

Columbus, OH is suppose to go MPEG 4 in May. Maybe I'll just wait and see what they offer.

Have you run the diagnostics to see what your transponder levels are ?
