Micro HD vs Openbox...S9

Ok folks I waited a while before ordering a MicroHd. So I ordered one yesterday. I learned my lesson a few years ago when I was one of the first to
get an S9 receiver. So I see most like the Micro so far. Any major differences in the S9 and the Micro? Obviously the support is much better on the Micro. Much smaller size too. One of my biggest complaints with the S9 was all the manual pid entry with the Ali editor, especially on the radio stations...Is this an issue with the Micro?

The micro does has manual PID entry but I haven't messed with it a lot. I need to though, some one in another thread said even though you can manually enter pids they don't appear to register with the receiver......so I don't know about that for sure.

As far as the differences, other than what you noted, it is a bit faster in the menus. It also seems to blind scan a little slower, not much, but I am not complaining cause it catches more stuff than the Openbox. The front-end is also way more sensitive and will hold a better lock on marginal signals.

The issue that I have seen with manual PID entry is that it creates a new channel instead of just updating the one you were working with, this is where some people thought it was not registering in the receiver. Not a big deal for me. If you are blind scanning every day, it could be a hassle to keep putting the manual entry back in.

Ok good to hear that it works ok though, just needs some tweaking

Not an issue requiring a tweak.There is a difference between channel PID editing and Manual Single Channel Search via PIDs.

The microHD performs manual single channel scanning via PIDs, but it does not currently feature channel the ability to edit an existing channel's PIDs. To edit a channel's PIDs, the PC based channel editor must be used.

I guess I should have been more clear :doh:, that it what I meant though is maybe it can be changed in a future upgrade to edit an existing channels PIDs.

I don't think the openbox did this either. I'm almost sure you need the editor to do it.

No the openbox won't let you manually enter one or change an existing one.

The clock works... The timer works... Can't say that for my Openbox S9...
