I'm running the current FireFox, 3.07
I've noticed in the last week, that my memory-poor laptop is eating up ram every time I refresh in the FTA department (where I hang out).
I'm not blaming the server.
My guess is that this is a symptom.
And, I am asking if anyone has noticed a similar problem?

eg: idling on the main FTA page, after a refresh, memory usage = 252.8 mb total machine
refresh the page
Now, memory total usage = 257.4

I don't have Flash loaded, and see none of that content.
I have a large HOSTS file which filters out a lot of crap.
Recently updated software include Firefox, Java, and Adobe PDF Viewer.

Any relevant advice would be appreciated. -

Firefox is notorious for memory problems, it's due to how it manages the histories for multiple tabs. I am not sure it's a symptom of something else.

Over time Firefox just needs to be closed and reopened. I prefer Chrome for my browsing currently.

There is nothing special about the FTA section over the rest of the site that would ause it to use more memory. So unfortunately I don't have an answer for you there.

I'm running Firefox, same version, on Mac OS X. I'm not seeing the problem. My memory usage floats between 130MB and 134MB with refreshes. I would ask if you use a lot of extensions with Firefox? Most of the memory problems with Firefox have to do with extensions and not with Firefox itself.

You might try disabling each extension one at a time and see if the memory problems persist.
