- I currently lease a single (1) 942 and two (2) 811 receivers. The receivers are being fed by a DP-34 switch connected to three satellites: Dish 500 w/DP-Twin (110/119) and Dish 500 w/Dual (61.5). The 110/119 dish is roof mounted and the 61.5 is ground mounted (old VOOM dish location).
- I am considering purchasing a 2nd 942 and returning a 811. Since all four output ports on the DP-34 switch are occupied, 1 for each tuner on the 811 and two for the dual-tuner 942, I assume that I would have to chain an additional DP-34 in order to support the dual-tuner 942 ~OR~ replace the DP-34 with a DPP-44 switch and use the supplied seperators.
- RG-6 cables are a non-issue since I prewired all locations to support the dual-tuner/dual-OTA-tuner VOOM HD DVR vaporware device.
- I have two UHF antennas: Washington DC (home DMA) running to the E* receiver and Richmond VA running directly to the TV. The OTA antennas are run in parallel and have their own separate wiring (no diplexors, etc.). OTA is a non-issue in this case.
- I received VOOM programming at 61.5 - also, the DC DMA is currently split and I have a handful of non-major network locals there as well. I will assume these will be moved over to 110/119 in the near future to comply with the "single dish" locals requirement. The signal levels on the 61.5 sat almost pristine (106-110 on Rainbow-1 and 110-116 on E*3).
- According to my zipcode, I have three SV Richmond channel that are currently on 105, but are now being mirrored on 129 (Dish 1000). I am not sure if E* will ever provide me with these SV even if I were to install a Dish 1000 at my own expense, and in reality I only need to PG data since I receive them OTA. Plus, my signal levels were significantly lower when I pointed the 61.5 Dish toward 129. Offhand, I'm not sure if I will ever need a Dish 1000.
My questions:
Based on the above, should I add a DP-34 @ $65 per or should I add a DPP-44 @ $175 per based on the fact I will most likely be adding a Dish 1000?
Is is possible for three HD (2 942s and 1 811) receivers to see four (4) sat locations 61.5 and 110/119/129 by cascading two DP-34 switches? It doesn't seem likely, but just thought I would ask.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
