Max length of Satellite cable?

Whats the max length of cable (rg6?) that will work from dish to receiver?

now thats a good question. I would suggest asking "greywolf" over at AVS. He seems to know a lot about rg6 cabling, antenna runs etc.

I have run 175 with an inline amp, and there was noticable degradation of the 119 signal on DTV. As for VOOM, don't know, haven't tried it that long but the LNB is the same as DTV so it shouldn't be too far off. I know one guy who put in a DTV single dish with 220' of RG6, signal was 70% in the house, but peaked at the dish. I would be willing to say that 150-160 is pretty safe though.

Somewhere I read where 75 feet was the maximum suggested without a booster. I will check my sources.
