Just wondering where you are getting this as Season 9? Are you including the Jr Seasons. The wiki and all the article's I've read show this as Season 6 and I just looked at my NAS and I only have 5 seasons on it.

I'm in the middle of watching Masterchef Canada and Masterchef Australia at the moment. Not sure if I want to start this right away or hold off for a while.

You should look up some clips of Joe on Masterchef Italy. He doesn't hold anything back on it.

Yep. TV listings all have it as season 9. They've been counting all of the MasterChefs together which is the way they've been done in the forum.

The Masterchef Canada Series 2 Finale is this Sunday on CTV, so it should be available to Cooking Channel after that. CTV has renewed it for a 3rd Series.
