This is 90% or more true for most MLB players because it has turned into a game of specialists. Heck, the AL has a rule exploiting just that, the DH, because pitchers can't hit or run. The league is full of guys that can only run, or throw, or hit.
The bottom line is that he is a well above average player, making too much money, that has been
allowed to become the jackass he is, by the same team management now bitching about him. His contract, and the closeness of the AL East race, has given him an advantage over mgmt DURING the season. He pouts, he refuses to play and he knows THEY NEED HIM, but off-season, look out, I say 90% chance he is gone!
He is a diva in the pure meaning of the word just like most of the top 2% - 5% of athletes, they think they are entitled to special treatment. It has absolutely ZERO bearing on his nationality, language skills, education level, religion, etc. It is purely because of his skill that his two teams (namely the Red Sox) have allowed his head to become clouded with his ego.
