Something else you might try is suspending your DIRECTV account for a period to bring temporary relief during the "off season". It probably isn't much more ethical than threatening to quit, but you don't risk being cut off.
Figure in what you'll be losing but, just as important, what you'll be gaining.
Sorry can't edit from iPhone.
My bill is 177. For
Top tier everything
3 hd hr24
Mrv
Plus insurance.
Plus I always buy sports tickets.
Csr won't budge.
I love Direc but they are really getting out of control.
Uverse offering me for 92 bucks same package.
Hd just not as good as Direc.
I don't want to drop service to get bill down on Direc.
Call Retention, you don't have to threaten anything to talk to them, just ask for them, be polite.
Tell them you are paying $ 170+ p/m and would like to know if they can help as the times are tough.
Usually they will offer something to help out.
Also, like tvropro said, cut pack on a package to something more reasonable ....
Do you NEED ALL the movie channels, or can you narrow down to 1 or 2 services you use most.
Dropping from Premier to the Ultimate will save you and that has some movie channels in it.
Ask them if they have a package that would do most of what you need.
Look here :
DIRECTV: English Packages
Pricing difference between the top 2 packages is $112 to $68, 220 channels vs 280, but MANY of them are music channels. Do you use the Music Channels ?
tvropro said:If you don't want to downgrade unless retention can cut you some slack I don't know what to say. Its the old saying "If you wanna play you have to pay" I threatened with leaving AT&T and got them to cut my phone and internet price for a year, got a $20 gift card and $50 off my current bill so sometimes threatening walking works

Im always nice when I talk to them. I would never be abusive or disrespecful. But I guess I feel unappeciated. Id like them to say ''for being a loyal sub'' we are going to make you happy. My dillema is I love the espn extra tennis coverage. NFL,nhl and baseball.
Im on the fence about canceling. Im not sure whom that would hurt more though??

Its not gonna happen till you call them, there not gonna pull YOU out of the millions of subs.
Give them a call, explain yourself, see what they can offer you.

I have streaming netfix. Hardly use it. Quality is iffy. Yes, sometimes very good.
But netflix does not have current stuff.
I would not use as main service though I hear some do.
I'm looking for Direc to even make a minor
Move. But does not look like they care.
