lost signal after sevare thunder storm,very strong winds dime size hail stones
and very heavy rain .to be honest its the first time i ever seen it here in nfld canada .although the sat meter showes a signal reading there is nothing showing up on the sattelite recievers !?i have a fortech mercury 11 and a fortech classic na.i have a ariza dsm -21n electronic meter whitch cost over$100.00 . i connected the meter to the cable comming in to the house its showing about%66 signal .but nothing is showing on the recievers .

sounds like the dish may have moved a little bit. ALso have you turned the power off on both units then back on to see if just a "jump start" is needed?

will give it a try , this is the first time i seen souch bad weather like this here on the island .
by jump start you mean a rebooth? i know the fortech ultra classic is only showing between 13%-%19 . on the meter on the ird ,but the sat meter is showing a strong signal,go figure.

Agree that it sounds like dish may have moved - probably on another satellite. Have you tried a blind scan? I love the Mercury for its blind (power) scan. I has never failed to give me help when the meter shows signal but I can not see the right "stuff." I have blown off over 10 degrees. May be on a circular bird..

i got it to work .ice man you were correct.the dish moved the wind got behind it and moved it off . i decided to use my coosat 6000 it works perfectly i must say the blind scan is awsome . i also hooked up the 5.1 channel decoder+ surroundsound headphones its
sweeeeeeeert,lol. now if i could figure out how to connect it to speakers or something ?
i have a cheap surround sound system i must see if i could connect to it. i also like the merc 11.
i have 1 its also a nice box.

powered computer speakers work ,shoot it was only a while ago i sold a pair of those.forgot to add i picked up somemore channels with my coolsat 6000 i couldent get with my fortech ultra na.
i must say its a nice sattelite reciever.

Don't know if this will help you as well but we have had bad thunder storms and high winds here too in my part of Canada you may want to also have a fast look at you horn as well with all the rain and stuff Hornets have been known to make there nest in the horn

I found that out after almost 2 weeks with the help of the gang here what was wrong with my SAT LOL

Just recently I had a diseqc switch fail during an electrical storm. So far this year I have had an Invacom LNBF and 2 diseqc switches fail. We have had a lot of electrical storms this year.
