My first post rant:

Called up DN yesterday to add RSNs to my account. Rep said I had to switch to TurboHD because RSNs couldn't be added to an Absolute HD account. She said she would give me $10/mo credit to offset the cost. Asked her if I would lose any channels. She said "nope, you will actually get more channels." Of course I said yes, sign me up then.

Few minutes later, I turn on my receiver, and notice a bunch of RED subs. Scrolling through the whole guide, I find that I lost 18 of my previous HD channels. Furious that I lost channels, I called DN back.

Asked them what was going on after they told me I wouldn't lose any channels. I get, "Sorry sir, but the TurboHD Silver plan that the rep added to your account does not get all the channels." WTF! "Absolute is no longer offered and I cannot add it back." Asked for her supervisor. Same thing.. "The computer will not let me put Absolute back on sir, I am sorry." Double WTF! Then was transferred to their executive support and got the same message. "However, I can offer you a $10/mo credit for a year"

Thanks for d*cking me over, I try to give you guys more business by adding sports, but you thank me by taking away 18 of my channels and charging me $20/mo more!

I wish I found this online community earlier. Would have known not to add RSNs. I miss my Absolute HD. :(

Everybody and their mother knew you could not add rsn to Absolute.

Seems funny that you knew how to get Absolute, but not the above.

Something doesn't add up, Troll maybe?

I'm on hd absolute and don't get those channels either...so it isn't just turbo getting screwed.

hd absolute:
no bet, no vh1, no mtv, no fxnws, no fx, no speed, no nick

Except for Speed, the rest is crap anyway...

Absolute still rules the HD subscriber world.

:up

And as an HD Absolute subscriber since it's inception, my mantra is "don't try to fix it, if it ain't broke" :)

BTW the ONLY new HD channel Dish could offer to get me to even consider switching to another package is PBS HD. And that isn't going to happen any time soon.

I have seen this happen many times to customers with discontinued packages. Nothing you can really do.

You might be able to get it put back on if you speak to someone in Executive offices...

Its just like my Superstations and locals package for $8.99 If I cancel it today and add it tomorrow it will cost me $11.99.

i dont get why they dont raise prices on discontinued packages. just cause its not available to currently sign up for it is exempt from the "pricing and packaging subject to change" clause? hey, im glad the current customers who were lucky enough to get packages such as absoulte or local/super combo and keep a kickass price, but its just one of those things that makes you wonder why dish would raise the price so much on a package like turbogold dda and not on absolute.

+1. Research is your friend. You're the only one who can protect your rights. Everyone on this board could have told your RSNs don't come with the old HD pack.

No one to blame but yourself.

I don't think that was the complaint. He was told he would have to move to a Turbo package to get the RSN, Turbo Silver. He asked whether he would lose channels in doing so and was told incorrectly that he would actually gain channels. When the switch was made and he lost channels, he complained he had been misinformed by the CSR and they wouldn't put him back on the Absolute package. He sort of did what he was supposed to do in asking questions of the CSR in advance. He wasn't trying to get an RSN with the Absolute package.

CSRs can be misinformed. It happens. That's why you should do your own research

None of those channels are really worth switching for me either.

However, I thought I read they will be discontinuing Absolute completely soon (and everyone will be forced into a Turbo package). Has anyone else heard this?

The key word is may happen. But no one has said for sure what will so until most of us that have Absolute are sitting firm.
