few months ago Dish installed a single dish on my roof with 3 LNBs
so a single cable coming from the roof all the way to my vip211 receiver.
All was fine and I was getting 110, 119 & 129 sats with all my HD signals.
However just a few days ago I'm no longer getting reception from the 129
sat and I'm missing all my HD channels now.

From a previous installation I also have another dish on my roof aiming
at 61.5. Cable coming from that 61.5 is not used right now.

My question: is it possible to combine this cable (from 61.5 dish)
with the other cable (from the 110/119/129 dish) and start getting my
HD signals back that way ??

If so what kind of a switch do I need to combine these two ??

Any help is really appreciated !!

Trees leaf out? If so, you may want to top that tree, because 119 will be the next to go.

Assuming you have the 1000.2, it's a simple matter to cable up your old 61.5 (assuming it has a DishPro LNB) into the 1000.2 LNB input and have all 4 satellites, at least during winter months!

Thanks.. How to I know I have 1000.2 ? It shows Dish 1000 on the surface.
My 61.5 dish is actually an old VOOM dish (anyone remember those ?)
Does that mean it probably won't have the dishpro LNB ???

I live in a multi-story townhome and I can't reach this VOOM dish which is
installed way way up on the roof.

All I have are the 2 cables coming down from the two dishes.
Is there a solution I can do on the ground using these 2 cables..or
am I out of luck ?? How about a satellite signal combiner switch ??

(bear with me if this sounds silly.. I'm not much familiar with this)

Go to Menu, 6, 1, 1, and run check switch. If it says 1.2K on 119, 110 and 129 then you have a 1000.2 dish. If it displays, DPP Twin on 119 and 110 and Dual on 129 you have a 1000.

IRC, the Voom lnbs were Legacy lnbs so yes you will need to replace the LNB with a DP Dual lnb.

Thanks Randall ! I just verified I have a 1000.2 dish.

So it seems like I can't use my VOOM dish without changing the LNB.

Before Dish came to install this new 1000.2, I was using the line coming
from the VOOM dish (actually it's a combined signal including an OTA antenna on the roof), splitting the signal at the receiver to Antenna & Dish as input
to my old 811 receiver. That setup worked well and I got all the local HD
too. I don't know what to do now..

They want me to pay $50 to come back

In the meantime I decided to directly connect my old VOOM dish line
to my VIP211 receiver hoping I'll get my old HD channels back.
Ran checkswitch and it detected the sat. and program guide was
downloaded. However, I don't see the old VOOM channels there..
(ex: HDNEWS, HDNET, HDNET MOVIES, EQUATOR HD etc.)
I only get a couple of HD channels like GHTV & FOOD HD.

Can someone explain why I'm missing the rest ?

Did you downgrade to HD Essentials?

What's HD Essentials ? No.. I didn't change anything.. I have an 18 months
contract with Dish. Accounts shows "Dish HD Ultimate" with America's
top 100. Are all HD channells on the 61.5 dish ?? (I'm missing all the VOOM
+ HDnet etc.)

It's always a good idea to clear the switch matrix when switching from DP equipment to Legacy equipment:

Disconnect the satellite feed and run check switch.
Connect the satellite feed back and run check switch again.

You won't see the HD channels on 110 (Espn, HD Theater, HD NET, HD Movies, etc) since you only have 61.5 connected.

I tried what Randall suggested here but still not getting my VOOM channels.
Could this be due to the fact now I'm using a VIP211 receiver ?

Previously I used an 811 with this setup and got all the HD channels
on 61.5. After upgrading to vip211/1000.2 I didn't use this 61.5 dish until
now.

Another thing is this old VOOM 61.5 dish is combined on the roof with
an OTA antenna, so I am splitting the signal at the receiver to Dish &
OTA inputs using a simple SAT/ANT splitter. Could this have something
to do with my missing VOOM HD channels ? My local OTAs are coming thru just fine.

So you're using diplexers to combine the antenna. Diplexers work in pairs, do you have two of them? One to combine and the other one to separate the signals?

On the 211, go to Menu, 6, 1, 1, and select satellite 61.5 and try this transponders 19, 20, and 24. Do you get any signal?

Yes I do have 2 diplexers. One on the roof combining voom dish & OTA
antenna. I split at the receiver on the ground to seperate the signals.
(Had the same setup for my old 811 receiver)

I just went to the menu as you suggested. the default transponder showing
now is "02". I changed it and ran check switch again. When it's done I looked
at the screen again and the transponder is set back to "02".
Not sure what this means ...

Move over the TP with the remote and change it to the transponders I mentioned above. You can use the arrow up and down key or just enter the numbers. We need to see if you're getting signal on the Voom transponders.

Ok I see what you mean... tried this... yes I'm getting signal from all 3 of these
(based on signal meter showing below).

Then it's an authorization issue. Have you called them to see why you're not getting the Voom channels? Have you tried the ALL HD or the ALL Channels guide already?

Thanks.. yes I checked the ALL HD and ALL Channels guide and these HD channels are missing.
I'll call Dish and see what they says... I have to tell them I disconnected their 1000.2
and hooked this 61.5..... I'll post back with what I find..

Called Dish.. and after being on the phone for almost an hour.. the tech
concluded I must be having a faulty receiver.. Offerd to send me a replacement
but wanted to charge me for shipping & handling. I was leasing the receiver
so I declined to pay. I told her if I'm not getting my channels I have to cancel
... she went back and forth for a while and finally agreed to replace for free.
We'll see how this turn out..

Cool. Let us know how it turns out.

Oh no. Famous last words from CSRs and rookie Techs: "It must be the receiver".

And I'd say at least 80% of the time it isn't.

Whether this applies to your case, don't know, but good luck.
